Mystics was an original prototype we developed here at Realtime Associates. It was a game of real-time spell casting. Up to four wizards could be in an arena at a time; they collect earth, sky, wind, and fire mana that appeared in the arena from time to time, and once collected, they could cast offensive and defensive spells of that type. We developed a single-player campaign prototype using the same mechanics.
We hired Illusion Machines to help with the overall game design. Nintendo commissioned a prototype, but in the end they decided not to put it into full production. We recently considered re-introducing it as a Wii-ware game.
