Title: The General Finds Thread!
Post by Speedy_NES on 01. Jul 2006 at 15:16
Since not all finds end up in their own threads, I think it would be nice to have a thread for posting smaller finds (i.e. single items, etc) from any place other than eBay...game stores, ads, other websites, etc!

I'll start off with what I got today and yesterday:

another Flintstones 2 PAL cart!
a CIB Logic 3 Sigma-Ray NES joystick
and DW 4 + Lolo 3 with laminated exrental boxes (both for only 18 euro shipped!)

:)

Post your finds!

Joust used to post all his finds in one continuous thread...I always thought that it was a nice idea.

By the way, nice finds!

Yeah, I always like to read about people's finds, but many collectors don't post them unless they scored a ton of items for a very good price.  This thread can be used for any and all finds, especially the smaller ones that people feel don't belong in a new separate thread.

yea this is a good idea :-) today i went yard saling all day and found lemme see:

27 N64 Games (great games like smash bros, zelda, marios, kirby, 1080 etc. no sports.

4 NES Games
1 Genny Game
A Zelda Puzzle (lol)
Blurp Ball (long Story)

Decent scores today.

Hope i ever better luck tommorow !

those sound like good finds.  What's a blurp ball?

Title: Re: The General Finds Thread!
Post by parpunk on 07. Jul 2006 at 02:17
lol i figured id end up teling the story lol. A blurp ball is like these little Rubber monsters that they made back in the early 90's/ i had a bunch of them when i was a kid but never seen any at a flea market or yard sale for the past 10 years lol. I was like 10 years old last time i saw one. But anyways they had all kinds of different ones and you put like this little torpedo (sometimes they were like other little round monsters.) in its mouth and squeeze it and it shoots it out. But me and my friend used to always put it on the ground and jump on them and they would shoot out like torpedos lol. They actually left DENTS in my walls of my old house they used to shoot out so hard lol. Anyways they could really rezult into some serious eye injuries and bruises lol. but it was defintely cool to come across them lol.

Nice finds guys!

I've been picking up some multis lately for pretty decent prices, but nothing really spectacular.  I did buy a complete CIB Micro Machines with all inserts for around 20$ shipped from a German guy recently, so that wasn't too bad.

My weekend finds:
Goodwill:
-Family Feud $3

Savers:
-Magic The Gathering ~100 cards $.99
-Mega Man 7 SNES $4.99
-Sega Genesis Model 1 $2.50

Flea Market:
-Zelda 2 $1
-Controller $1
-Sealed Advance Wars for GBA $11 (I put it on Ebay right away!)
-Sonic 2 for Genesis $.50
-Samurai Showdown for Genesis $.5
-Micro Genius Famiclone with 2 controls, AV, AC adapter + 2 famicom multicarts with a ton of good games. (one has 22 uniques, the other has 32+ uniques) $12

Overall a good weekend.  :)

Update:
The first multicart is a 166-in-1 with 22 unique games, pretty standard.
The second multicart however is a gem, it is a 212-in-1 cart with *82* unique games including custom menu work and possibly a few custom games: there is a rock, paper scissors strip game, some awful version of frogger and a port of sega columns.

This morning I went to the dentist to get 5 cavities filled. To cheer myself up I went to the goodwill a few blocks over and got for $12.97:
- Addam's Family loose
- Yo Noid! complete
- Adventures in the Magic Kingdom and Rescue Rangers super-complete (like warranty cards and coupons)
- Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for PS1.

I was happier.

The box is way harder to find that the game is.  The manual is harder to find than the game also.  I have an extra copy of the game now also if your interested shot me a PM.

Sqoon is just one of those games tough to find complete in box. Kinda like Color a Dinosaur or DK Math Jr. The one NGD got looked to be in good condition too so that's a plus on the up and up for him  8-)

I would give the box and 8 out of 10.  Usually when this game does show up CIB (1-3 times a year) the box is beat all to hell too, me very happy :D

Nice pickup Mel!  I still need to try out the ROB sometime as well.

I picked up a Suncom Transporter12 storage case for 12 NES games from an ad-site, as well as the following games:

190-in-1
13-in-1
255-in-1 (this one has a ton of games, maybe even more than the famous 260-in-1 ;))
1992 Super Mario Family 10-in-1
Captain America NTSC loose

I might have a second one with a ripped label that has the same contents as the Super Mario Family.  I'll check in a bit and let you know.

Edit:  I just checked, and I do indeed have another one.  It does have a different and ripped label on the front though.

I got some old beatles records, some old school house records from the 1980s, and some good 80's records (Yes, Asia, Def Leppard) for about 6 bucks at the flea market.  I know that has nothing to do with NES but I collect records too :O

I got my square corner Blackjack w/ manual today.  It is the last known corner variant I needed also, so this subset if offically done.  Only taken me a year and a half to find them all.  Now I just have to finish up the damn color variants.  Finding a black King Neptune, Crystal Mines and Baby Boomer is a bitch, anyone have one you want to sale?

Thanks Hounder ;-p

Picked up all of these complete in box (well, save one or two that don't have manuals). They are all PAL-A Italian version:

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Kirby's Adventures
Mario and Yoshi
Megaman 3
Super Mario Bros 1
Super Mario Bros 3
Time Lord
TMNT 2
Trolls in Crazyland
Ufouria
World Champ

Cart Only:
Tiny Toons 2: Trouble in Wackyland

Anyone know the rarity on any of these. Jajaja has already told me that the Indiana Jones is pretty hard to find. Mine is in very mint condition and complete. Help on the others would be great :)

I got it a few days.  I forgot to post it ;D It is in very good shape I think also, especially since it was a good price I though.  Glad Dain sent me the link.  I also have a Tetris--Asian version, and a SMB Asian version coming in soon too CIB.  I really wasn't trying to find Hong Kong Asian, and Euro games right now, but you get them when you find them cheap I guess.

I am much more excited about the 2 HKGC Inc games.  They are a bitch to find.  No one will ever have a full set of those.

I've got one, but it's missing the label, the game on it is 4-Player Battle Mahjong.

Yesterday I recieved:
Alfred Chicken
Dynablaster
Die Schöne und das Biest
Xevious
Drop Zone
Noah's Ark
Parodius

All PAL-B and CIB. I already have FAH-version of Beauty and the Beast CIB and PAL-A version of Noah's Ark CIB, some day I shall have all PAL-releases and PAL-variations.. Hehe might take a while..

Nice finds shrimp, some good PAL exclusives in there!

I had a nice find recently as well, a factory sealed Death Race for NES (AGCI version).  It's nice, as I thought I had a sealed copy of the game already, but that one turned out to be a reseal, so I now have a cib copy, used resealed copy, and a factory sealed copy of the game :D

I also picked up a brand new Beeshu Zipper (green version)...been looking for one of those for a while now.

On a side note, this isn't exactly NES related, but I also picked up an almost complete set of Philips Videopac games (PAL Magnavox Odyssey^2), all mint in box/case, including some rarities, for only around $65 shipped (20kg = ~45 pounds of weight)!  Probably one of my best deals yet.

cart only.

I mostly bought it because the game is decent, not because its rare. I could really care less about how rare something is.

but still, not a bad price for a game I've only seen once in about 8 years of buying this crap.

woo... now only if my toploader would get here so I could play more then 5 minutes of the game.

also hi NESaholic, been awhile eh?

Thunderbirds - $8

Highlights of some recent finds:

Castle of Deceit black cart CIB (w/ Micro Genius sticker)
Real Player's Pak w/case (HES release of the Caltron 6-in-1)
Venice Beach Volleyball sealed
Tombs & Treasure sealed
Banana Prince CIB
Hammerin' Harry CIB
U*Fouria CIB

This comes bundled with a question...how rare is the Real Player's Pak game?  Did it come with a manual (as I've heard not all HES releases came with a manual)?  It's the standard cart version, no plug-thru/dongle.

Title: Re: The General Finds Thread!

The rental HES games (plastic box) have the manual on the back of the cover. So none included, i actually dunno if there's a paper version box, never saw it.
It's hard to get for sure, nice deals you got there Speedy, i still need that HES game.

Just found 3 boxed (so-so condition) games at the goodwill. They were in with the vhs tapes:

BattleToads,
Mega Man 4,
and Mighty Final Fight.

3.50 each, deff. felt good :)

Then this homeless guy sold me a microsoft usb controller for 2.00 woo.

Kind of ironic finding these capcom games though, i just started to put my efforts into collecting all the capcom nes releases (boxed)

Sweet find! :)

Did you get a good price?

Title: Re: The General Finds Thread!
Post by jajaja on 24. Nov 2006 at 14:08
I'd say so. I payed 40 AUD for it, which is about 34 USD. Usualy the HES manuals are printed on the backside of the cover, but this got a own manual. Its only a small piece of paper tho, which could get lost easily so i recon finding this game complete is very hard.

I've only seen it for sale 2 times in like 1 year. I havnt really searched heavy for it, but still.. i have looked alittle. I didnt try to win the first copy i saw because i didnt know it was so hard to find. It was boxed atleast, but dont know if the manual was included and i dont think it was in this good condition. What i can recall that copy went for 32 or 33 AUD. I think Martin on this board won it actually :)

Picked up a MINT Mig 29 for $1.98 to replace my old cart.

N64 Snowboard Kids boxed with manual, and a really complete Yoshi's Story with manual, quick reference card, and reference material for $4.98 each.

15 Famicom carts.

A nice boxed NES Cleaning Kit which I did not have.

A USB gamepad which I am trying to figure out how to make work in MAME (any advice)?

Dance pad for the PS2 (for my daughters).

And a WICO Boss joystick for the Atari 2600.

Not a bad day in all. See if my luck holds out tomorrow when I go to the swap meet!

My good luck continued today at the swap meet.

I picked up an Untouchables cart for $2.50.

A gun for PS1 for $2.50.

And the best was a ColecoVision Atari 2600 Module and attached to it was an Atari Video Brain. If you don't know what that is you put 6 carts in it then just push the button for which one you want to play. Both for only $5!

No, I haven't hooked it up yet. Hopefully this weekend I will get to do a bunch more work on my game room. I want to try to have out all the systems like most people do. I'll try and test it then.

I also need to pick up a Coleco Vision system somewhere along the way. That's one of the few I don't have.

I got a NM complete copy of golf.  I was always under the assumption that original black box releases were fairly hard to come by, and thus semi-valuable.  it was only ninety-nine cents.  is that good?  either way it was cheap for a cib game.

I just picked up 33 boxes I needed, 5 manuals, 1 map, and 1 poster from a lady that normally sales stuff on ebay.  She broke up a bunch of here CIB so I could get them.  I snagged them all for $200 shipped.  You may think, man that is kinda high for boxes.  Well here are some of the titles in there.
Power Blade 2
Pirates
Addams Family-Pugleys Scavenger Hunt
Ultimate Air Combat
Fisher Price Perfect Fit
Castleian
Rockin Kats
Last Ninja
Deathbots
and a bunch more pretty decent boxes.  I think I got a great deal myself.  I am now down to less than 200 boxes for a CIB set.  I hope to be posting my boxes needed list soon to try to nab most of these by the end of this year.

Very nice NGD.  That's a fair price I'd say for that many boxes, but it's always sweet to get ONLY boxes you need in the mail, as opposed to mostly duplicates.  It's nice to check that much shit off your lists at once.

Not the greatest deal, but I got the following off an ebay auction for 70$ shipped the other day:
~NES~
2 NES Toasters
Captain Skyhawk
Dr Mario
Duck Hunt
Kabuki Quantum Fighter
Kirby's Adventure
Mickey Mousecapades
RBI Baseball (Licensed)
RC Pro-Am
Roger Clemen's MVP Baseball
Sesame Street ABC
Super Dodge Ball
Super Mario Bros. 3
Test Cartridge (NTF 2)
Four Score (Sealed)
~SNES~
Sim City
Super Game Boy (CB)
NBA Live '95 (CB)
Super Mario World (CI)
Vegas Stakes
Zoop (CB)
~N64~
F1 World Grand Prix
Hey You Pikachu
Super Mario 64
Rumble Pack

I basically did it for the Test Cartridge, even though I could tell it wasn't in very good condition.  The Fourscore being sealed was a cool bonus and I got a few decent extras to boot.  Also went to a flea market over the weekend and picked up a Fairchild Channel F system with a Blackjack game for 5$.  Found some NES games, but I felt they were way overpriced...there was a Uforce controller for 5$, but it had no joystick.

This weekend at the Toronto game show I did OK.  I was inside when someone showed up outside with a ton of goodies, so I missed most of them.  I did manage to get:

2 different empty NES controller boxes.  1 CAN and 1 US.
1 empty Challenge Set box (only half the foam)  CAN version
1 empty Deluxe Set box (no foam) CAN version
1 complete Action Set (new Red gun with Mattel stickers).  Box and foam werent great.  I guess Mattel started releasing their later stuff in Canada with just stickers to reduce cost instead of re-printing the box.  The NES also has a mattel sticker on the bottom.)
Action 52  Transparent label, Rev A green PCB version (which I probably already had)
Solomon's Key  3-screw
Popeye  5-screw CAN version
Gyromite 3-screw CAN code version
Xevious (yellow seal and lettering version.  I didnt even know this existed)
A Nintendo Cassette Boy (looks like a gameboy but ts a walkman)
A Gameboy Bath game (looks like a gameboy but its got soap in it)
A Donkey Kong  vinyl record
Tiny Toons 2 box and manual
Star Trek 25th Anniversary box
Robocop 3 box and manual
TMNT3 manual and a few others I didnt have
A Mario toy from Wendy's
Side Pocket, Championship Pool, Nightmare on Elm Street, Jurassic Park (to replace mine which had label damage)
Some various Nintendo strategy guides and books
About 30 donor carts for making my next batch of Sudoku carts.

Thats about all I can think of.

Zelda 2 (CAN version. CIB)
Fisher Price perfect Fit (CIB)
SMB 3 (CAN loose)
52 in 1 (Famicom with converter)
Felix the Cat (Cart and manual.  I needed both. My cart was in bad shape)
Darkwing Duck manual
About 10 GB games loose, 11 SNES games complete, 3 classic gameboys (I hope to be able to make my own Wide boy) and thats about it.

Title: PS1 imports
Post by Gary on 30. Jun 2007 at 21:15
While it's not NES, it's still game related. Found6 PS1 imports today while thrifting. They were $2.99 each.

http://www.divshare.com/img/thumb/1128998-a9f.jpg

Kingsley's Adventure
Psychic Force 2
Final Fantasy Anthology
Fisherman's Bait
Toshinden Subaru
Mighty Hits

Funny thing about them is when I look them up on the net, the covers and labels on what I have are mostly different than what I find online. So they may actually be counterfit imports. However, they are real discs that have been pressed, not copies. I know that because the names of the games are pressed into the ring on the back, and you can't do that with copies. And they all work fine.

I found something that at first glance seemed worthless, but now I'm not so sure.

Inside a boxed Fester's Quest, there was a Sunsoft Player's Guide for Fester's Quest.  It was printed with a price f $1.95 which implies to me that people who owed Fester's Quest could order these through mail order from Sunsoft directly.

I'll try to remember to scan it in and post it.

I've only had two good finds in my life. Several years ago I was lucky enough to snab a still-sealed copy of Tengen Tetris for $35 on Ebay. I held onto it for a couple months, then sold it for $150. About a year later I bought another still-sealed Tengen Tetris for about the same price and sold that for $150 as well.

It's amazing how low an Ebay item will go when there's no scans or details to the description.

Not too shabby. I wouldn't mind having a copy of Metroid for myself, but for now I can settle for the unlocked NES Metroid on Metroid Prime.

Just picked this one up at the local pawn shop for $25. 118-in-1. Of course it doesn't actually have 118 games. It's more like 14.

It doesn't take a course in oriental languages to know a lot of those names look the same.

Features:
-Contra
-Super Mario Bros.
-Tengen Tetris
-Unknown Ninja game
-Binary Land
-Antarctic Adventure
-B-Wings
-Field Combat
-Ice Climber
-Battle City
-Galaxian
-Bomberman
-Road Fighter
-Circus Charlie

I don't have my own copy of Contra, so this multicart foots the bill for that. Not to mention two of my favorite games from my 42-in-1 (which is corroded and has graphical issues) being Field Combat and B-Wings are present on this cart.

What's odd though is even though the cart advertises it has Star Force, it does not.

Another oddity is that it is very difficult to get the menu to appear without graphical issues - yet you can select any game and they look just fine.

Title: Re: The General Finds Thread!
Post by albailey on 18. Aug 2007 at 21:04
Does the menu appear to have a black background?  And are you playing on an LCD TV?  If so, its because the pirates who wrote the menu made the same mistake as Game Genie and as me when I wrote Sudoku (one of the black colors causes glitches).

Al

Title: Re: The General Finds Thread!
Post by PlayItBogart on 19. Aug 2007 at 03:25
It does have a black background, but no, I was playing it on a regular TV.

Occasionally the menu will appear properly, but often it cycles through a series of crappy-looking menus.

Though it's not an NES find per se, my greatest find went like this;
I walk up to a garage sale and find nothing of interest. As is my practice, I ask if they have any old video games. The guy is, like, "I think I have a Genesis upstairs". Upon his return from the house he has a box, overflowing. I look in the box and see a bunch of stuff, but what really caught my eye was a Donkey Kong cart fo the intellivision. Knowing that I have exactly $3 in my wallet, I hope that he doesn't know what he has and plan to offer him $3 and sincere gratitude for the cart. He says, "I don't know how much this is all worth, but (turns to his wife) what do you think a buck?" she replies, "for the box?". He says, yes, and they agree. I proceed to almost have a heart attack, hand over my dollar and fight the urge to run to my car. Upon further inspection I discover that the box contents were:
1 Donkey Kong cart for intellivision
18 various (some rare) Atari 2600 carts
1 Atari 2600 in mint condition
1 Intellivision master component, 1st generation, still with the
       protective plastic cover on top.
I lit some incense as an offering to the vintage game gods and played pitfall until I fell asleep. Long winded, but worth it.

Though it's not an NES find per se, my greatest find went like this;
I walk up to a garage sale and find nothing of interest.
Long winded, but worth it.

haha, that's awesome!  How much is that DK cart for Intellivision worth?

And nice DW3 find!  That's a downer to self-employment... no co-workers to harvest.

Sunday equals FleaMarket day in the Burgh and it payed off.  Wally Bear, Venice Beach, Pac-Man both grey and black Tengens: all were three dollars each.  However, the guy is out of games and won't be back.

                                   :'(

I  now have no private pond to swim at.

Although I'm a new user, I'm not new to the site.  I've been reading posts for a few years.  I'm one Stadium Events away from a complete NTSC collection myself  :)
I started collecting back in 1998. I was still in high school.  If only I had access to the money I do now.  The things I've seen change in price over the last decade  :-/ I remember sitting at work as an intern and seeing Stadium Events, all three Panesians, and Caltron 6-in-1 all go for around $50/piece.  I thought, "Who would pay $50 for a Nintendo game?!"  Doh!
-Last summer I got 36 CIB games on Craigslist for $220 shipped.  Most were decent with two big highlights: Fire N Ice and The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles  I was real happy!
-I got Panic Restaurant (cart only) for $20 shipped on ebay last summer as well because there was no pic and the lady only accepted money orders.  Ching!
I've got many more, but that's all I can think of right this minute.

A new secondhand video game store opened just down from where I work last summer.  (Everything seemed to happen last summer...weird)  Anyway, I walked in and bought Contra Force, Lolo 2, Namco PacMan, and something else decent, I forget, for $40  ;D

I can't ever find anything at Goodwill stores like I hear everyone on here.   I think there are too many ebayer's scanning the local stores :(

Yeah some sources are drying up, here also hard to find. You really have to go to a fleamarket to actually find NES.

NesJunkie,
If you have  Ninja Taro  or Castlevania Legends  gameboy manuals, I'd be willing to buy or trade for those.

I have both those games CB.

As for finds, yesterday I picked up Super Smash Bros Melee for gamecube for $3.   It was a sleeve-variation I didnt have.

So Sunday I go to the flea market and my dad find a copy of Mario Paint (SNES) still sealed. He asks the lady and she says $30. He walks off and I meet up with him and he tells me about it. I didn't believe him when he said still sealed for $30. So I went to the booth and asked the lady how much it was. No arguing, no extra though, she says $10. Got a killer deal and saved $20. Go me!!
