Title: Hardware issue - but only sometimes? *Solved*

EDIT: I posted my issue on reddit (I've never been on that site before, otherwise I'd have posted there sooner), and someone told me to disable the lockout chip. That worked, and my games are now playing perfectly on the first go again. If anyone comes across this post who has a similar issue, I can tell you it's a very simple mod, and took about 30 minutes from start to finish. There's loads of helpful videos on youtube showing how to do it. :)

After moving to a new country and not wanting to ruin my old NES in the trip overseas, I purchased a NES off ebay. It was shady when I got it, and I took it apart, bent the connector pins back a bit, cleaned it out, and cleaned my games at the same time. This was the first time I had cleaned a NES or my games with anything but a clean q-tip, this time I used Brasso after watching some youtube videos. Played all of my games perfectly on the first go, didn't even have to press reset even once; it was heaven! Anyway, fast forward to yesterday, I hadn't played for at least a month and half, and I was hungry for some Mr. Gimmick. I put in the cartridge, and.. The red light blinks. I get the title screen, perfectly clear, no distortion, but even after 30+ tries, the light keeps blinking. Same thing with Duck Tales. Perfect image, even audio, but it keeps blinking. So I try The Battle of Olympus. Works on the first go.. What?! I try more games, but Battle of Olympus is the only one that starts on the first go, every time, perfect image and audio.

I don't get why this is happening, as there is no distortion or any sign of actual damage to the game itself, but the NES just doesn't seem to recognise the cartridges? And the fact that it will play this one game on the first go, no issues... I'm so confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I have absolutely no idea what to do this time.  :-[
