i dont think anyone has mentioned this yet, but there is a version of unlicensed tengen pacman that was a 10th anniversay edition re-release that did not have a paper label on the back, but instead had the normal info embossed on the back. very similar to some acclaim, hi-tech, etc. games.  so you can add that to the list.

Do you have a scan/pic of this?  I knew of the 10th anniversary edition, but didn't know the back of the cart was different.  Thanks for the info Smiley

Cool thread -- I'll have to look when I get home and see if I can add to the list. So is the Acclaim back-label list next? Smiley

Anton, I beleive this is the one that came with the alternate box art, but I'm not 100% sure. That would make sense though, and I've always wondered why there was a re-release of Pac-Man in a different box. Unfortunately, I don't have that box version, but I'll check my cart tonight.

I would also be interested in the Akklaims, but I dont know how we can guarantee authenticity which makes collecting for them more difficult.

After all, you can swap the backs of Akklaim carts,  you cant swap Tengens (without damaging the label).

I'm of the same oppinion about non security 3-screw carts.  But maybe there is a PCB difference or something.

I agree that it is difficult to collect these, which is why I personally do not collect back label variations (unless they're major). I do, however, want to document which ones exist.

If you see the other thread about the back labels stuff I wrote, one thing I meant to add was that by using my pseudo guide to those labels, you can easily detect a game whose cart back was replaced. I received a box of 20 games the other day and I went through them -- it was funny because I got a M.U.S.C.L.E. in there that had a Rev-A back label, but it was _clearly_ replaced. Knowing the different types and rough timeframe makes finding these replacements easier.

Thanks Dain, I've added them to the list.  Are you sure that the RBI Baseball with the code is with the MBT text, though?  That would be the first one with the text to have a code stamped, if so!  Also, your RBI 3 code is the first with 5 digits.  Smiley

That made me laugh because I just may have tainted two snes games.  I sold my backup secret of mana, and decided to open up both manas before shipping.  They had different circuit boards!  I had fun examining both of them and then went to close them up.  one of the backs had a 01 imprinted on the sticker and one had a 33 imprinted.  I had no idea which circuit board went with which cartridge so i guessed.  Someday game historians will ponder the secret of mana mismatch...  Smiley

Oh crap, I wasn't paying attention when I did this! My GF was hounding me to leave, and I was trying to get this up quickly.

Here's what I have after re-checking this morning (unpressured Smiley The RBI 1 does NOT have the MBT code, and RBI 3 has a 4-character code:

Alien Syndrome - without MBT (no code)
RBI Baseball - without MBT (09RZ)
RBI Baseball 3 - without (QXRZ)

Sorry about the confusion! Smiley
