I get that problem all the time, JC, and indeed, Michael seems to know the way to go. I simply must try your idea out, thanks! Smiley

I just scrub the Q-tip in REALLY hard to get the real grime. It's amazing how disgusting games can get...

I did get one cart open so far -- I've never cleaned contacts before so I'm testing things out on a crappy game. The contacts already have some of the copper worn away from rubbing against the converter/famicom contacts. I guess there's no way to repair that?

There's nothing you can do but be careful.  The copper will eventually rub off just from continually sliding them in and out of the system.  The important thing is not to speed up the process.  If you use anything that scratches, scratches will cause more abraisian and rub things faster!


Oh, I've heard from many people that this stuff is good for cleaning and protecting contacts but I've just never gotten around to trying it:
