New game - Alter Ego

I'm glad to finally present to you my new NES game.

...

Download the game (392K) or watch a video (spoilers alert, it shows solution for few levels!).

The game is a logic platformer. You control a hero and his alter ego. You have to switch between them to clear a level. It is a bit similar to Binary Land.

This game is a port, or maybe a remake, of recent ZX Spectrum game of the same name. The original version created by Denis Grachev from RetroSouls, you can see video of it here and get it here. NES version got new graphics, original music by Kulor (composed for the game), and some other changes.

Interesting technical feature of this game is that it is written in C, with cc65 compiler. You can get source code here. More details about this and development process in general are available in notes.txt file provided with the game.

I concur. The NES Dump is great. He'll probably sell the game for $30. I've purchased from him in the past and his replies are typically very swift, so if you want to negotiate with getting a cut of the pay, it shouldn't be much of a hassle. Not to mention the quality of the reproductions are top-notch, unlike his website.  Roll Eyes

Regarding release on a cartridge, I'm trying to arrange it now (through one of homebrew/repro releasers). I'll post details when it will be available.

This game seems awesome. I nearly watched the TAS on tasvideos.org but realized that 1) I wanted to play it, and 2) there may be more clever choices of games for a TAS.

I know it's a "remake" of a ZX Spectrum game, but the basic idea reminds me of one of the worlds in Braid and, mostly, of the excellent Flash game "The Company of Myself". I know what I'll be playing tomorrow afternoon, after work Smiley

(and yes, it's my second post, and I'm necroposting... but I don't want to just "leech" without even showing my gratitude, that would be unfair)
