NESWORLD CHRISTMAS CALENDAR - DECEMBER 24
December 24th, 2008 - 6:27 am - Posted by Martin Comments: 0

First off I'm sorry for the extreme delay regarding the last "christmas" update. Unfortunately for me I got sick (a very bad cold) just after christmas  - so my energy level has been low the past days.

I actually had something else ind mind for the 24th update but it'll have to wait a bit, instead I'm presenting you with another treat, but to be able to see it you have to visit the forum :-)

It's once again time to take a look at an N64 prototype, this time it's Top Gear Hyperbike - one of my alltime favourite N64 racing games.

Click here to check it out.

Todays update consists of various bits and pieces, an update has been made to the prototype page so it no longer shows the NES logo, but also a few Robotech prototype pictures have been added.

A lot of old pirate hardware has returned - there just too much to list so I suggest that you check the pirate hardware section.

SNOWBRO RELEASES NES REMAKE OF SWEET CHILD OF MINE
December 21st, 2008 - 5:54 pm - Posted by Martin Comments: 0

Here's what he wrote on youtube.

I'd like to thank some people that made this possible (in no particular order):
Guns N' Roses - for a kick-ass song
www.starbreeze.com - makers of FastTracker ][
DOSBox team - DOSBox is the best!
NEStopia team - great emulator
Brad Taylor - for his NES sound hardware docs
www.mega-nerd.com - for libsndfile
Andreas Pedersen - for moral support and inspiration
Rob Mocca - for putting up with my whims all these years
My wife - for letting me waste my time on this crap :-)
Kristofer Dahl - for playing the guitar solo so slooowly that even I could catch all (well, most of) the notes
nesdev.parodius.com - everyone that contributed docs, demos, etc.

Technical details:
This remake was made in Fasttracker ][.Then the XM was converted to my custom NES sound engine format and compiled into a ROM using my NES assembler/linker.

Fun trivia: If you download the ROM you can turn sound channels 0,1,2,3 on/off individually in real-time by using the D-pad.

Click here to download the rom.

This is a serious "jaw dropper", is there even such a term in english? oh well what I mean is that this really kicks ass :-)

Okay todays update is really crappy.. but after I got started on writing about this gadget called Coolboy I kinda quickly lost interest in reviewing it because it really is as boring as it looks.

Click here to check it out.

A video will be added whenever the youtube upload finishes.

Well click here to check it out.

Well it's time for another quick look at an N64 prototype. This time it's an early build of Power Puff Girls - one of the worst N64 releases.

Anyway the early build clearly shows that the game is a total Tom & Jerry Fists of Fury rip off as it still features the music from the game... however there's definately some stuff to be coded before this game went gold.

Click here to check it out.

More N64 goodness (i hope) A few days ago I managed to get my hands on a Z64 N64 backup unit and what better way to learn a bit more about it than writing a little article about the gadget.

It can be found here and if you have any comments then please do email me, thanks.

A long lost prototype review I once made for my now incredibly dead 64scener website. The prototype is Kemco's Top Gear Rally 2 and while it at first glanse looked complete a closer look revealed quite a few differences...

The lazy bum is back with yet another late update. This time I'm bringing a page with very little information actually, but hopefully it'll grow as time goes.

It's a list of NWC owners who probably want to stay anonymous for the most part, but at least you can drool while looking at the various pictures, some NWC's are definately in better shape than others.

Click here to view the page.

Still a little behind with the updates and once again it's old news being added. But while most of the old website deserves to be trashed this page about the unreleased SNES version of Congo, based on the movie, is just too good to trash.

So click here and read an article from the long lost NESWORLD Archives...

An old article returns to the website today. Back in 2004 I wrote a small article about some unlicensed GBC games released in the UK by Rocket Games, which turned out to be Datel who are better known for their Action Replay cheat device.

Anyway you can go directly to the article here.

I have just wasted my time checking out the worst piece of crap Famicom clone I have ever seen, the cool part is that it looks like a laptop - but doesn't do the job that well...

Well check it out here

Hello there! Here's the third christmas update for the website. This time I have returned to the roots of the website, bringing you a small info page about one of the thousands of Famicom clones out there.

This one is made by a semi known company called Asahi, check it out here.

NESWORLD CHRISTMAS CALENDAR - DECEMBER 1

It's time to present you with NESWORLD's first December treat, a small article about the Wideboy devices for the Nintendo64.

Click here to go the the article.

The idea with the calendar is to add one article, review or other every day throughout December. It's quite a task as I haven't made up any of the additions in advance as I probably should have, but I still aim to have a daily update.

Thanks for reading and please do comment if you have any ideas or corrections :-)

Oh yeah the video on the page is hopefully available soon, youtube seems a little slow tonight..
