Warspirits was developed by Candle Light Studios somewhere between 1997 and 1999. Lead programmer on the project was Duncan Chambers who was the only programmer assigned to the N64 version of Warspirits.

Duncan Chambers: I did actually work as lead coder on War Spirits on the N64 version and the owner of the company worked on the PS1 version with another programmer. My role was really getting it working on the N64.

The reason why it never got released was because the company (as many game studios do) got into financial difficulties and without a solid backer of the game the company sadly faded into history.

To be honest I wasn't really sure myself on what the game was about as it was in demo development, and looking at what channels it could go down when I moved to another studio.

Another game in development by Candle Light was Attack, to be published by Telstar, also went unreleased.

No publisher is known to have existed for Warspirits though.
