Title: Bad Ebay Sellers - buyers beware Post by nesfan on 10. Jan 2006 at 13:29
What do you guys think about creating a sticky post for the top of this forum that is a warning list of bad ebay sellers. Probably should be maintained by a moderator who determines if/when to add new sellers based on claims posted by board members. Then we could all help each other trade safely. It sucks when you get the shaft due to a bad ebay seller, but it's worse if they get to keep shafting the NES community. I know there is a universal hate for nes game freak based on recent threads about Rodland and Family Fun Fitness pad. I also know buyatari got shafted by a seller who refused to sell him the item he won, so they should be on there, too, and there are probably a few others. Thoughts?

i think that sounds like a great idea..

I think this is a major issue that should put to attention especially with what kind of collecting we do cus like i or most of us we buy builk or shell out alot of cash just to buy one item. and to put out this much money then just get crappity smacked over is a shame especially if it happened 2 times from us board members!

Title: Re: Bad Ebay Sellers - buyers beware Post by Hounder on 10. Jan 2006 at 18:16
I think this would be a good idea as well. Something that would help collectors know who and what to look out for when it comes to purchasing rare or even common items on ebay. Seems to many people now-a-days get ripped off from dead beat ebay sellers. >:(

Title: Re: Bad Ebay Sellers - buyers beware Post by the_wizard_666 on 10. Jan 2006 at 20:25
Always good to know. We should probably have one for board members too, mind you, it's less likely for that to happen numerous times on the board...someone hoses you, you're going to be spreading the word pretty damn quick :P
But yeah, looks like someone already stickied this... |

Excellent Idea!!!
Gamebros.123 add the MF to the list |

Title: Re: Bad Ebay Sellers - buyers beware Post by 8bit Disciple on 10. Jan 2006 at 21:24
We need to List all the names on one post and keep it updated. So it would be easier to find names
I think it would be a great to have a list of the board members so we would know if we are biding against each other. , I’ve been trying not to bid against people from the forum. ;) |

This is a great idea. I also try not to bid againist board members unless it is something super rare, then it is far game.
The idea of keeping a list of bad sellers is also a great idea. I have a couple that I could add to the list. [glb]~~NGD[/glb] |

Title: Re: Bad Ebay Sellers - buyers beware Post by nesfan on 13. Jan 2006 at 17:20
I'm happy to keep the list of bad sellers in my original post, but suggest this topic be restarted by an admin and stickied. I'm not on here all that often and will probably be less so since I start a new job next week (yea me!).
We need to establish some criteria for inclusion on the list. People should have to explain their experience from a factual point of view like buyatari did in that thread I can't find... What did Gamebros.123 do to screw you over, Michfan? |
|
Title: Re: Bad Ebay Sellers - buyers beware Post by NationalGameDepot on 13. Jan 2006 at 20:53
Let's get this going. Will one of the Admin's make a sticky thread for us? Thanks

Title: Re: Bad Ebay Sellers - buyers beware Post by Buyatari on 19. Jan 2006 at 06:35
Buyatari didn't go thru with this because I was ignored when I emailed asking for the address to send payment to. He didn't take paypal which was fine and didn't seem like he wanted to sell in the emails I did get.
Anyway I reported him as a non seller so we shall see what happens. I had a very high bid on this. 100 for shipping wouldn't bother me in the least. |

did you see that he relisted it, and bashed you in the description a little? :-X [glb]~~NGD[/glb] |

"Could/would not finish the auction" :D I think the guy really just doesn't want to sell it, and when a serious bidder came along that was willing to pay through the hoop to get it, he said "screw it" and removed it and stopped responding to him.

Title: Re: Bad Ebay Sellers - buyers beware Post by natedog4000 on 20. Jan 2006 at 06:17
do not bid on any so called factory sealed games from vididiots. like the one below:
http://cgi.ebay.com/THE-LEGEND-OF-ZELDA-Nintendo-NES-Sealed-New-Game-w-Line_W0QQitemZ8250694784QQcategoryZ62053QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem He says factory sealed, but a guy at the NES forum at gamefaqs did some investigating and found out that this guy buys complete games and seals them with his own shrink wrap machine. He was dumb enough to buy the shrink wrap machine on ebay with the same user name: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5649500574&ru=http://video-games.search.ebay.com:80/5649500574_Games_ |

Title: Re: Bad Ebay Sellers - buyers beware Post by Jedi_QuestMaster on 20. Jan 2006 at 08:09
I'd like to get myself a shrink wrap machine. It's not like it would be a novelty item, either. It could sure protect the boxes from dust & stuff. I would take the manuals out, of course... or would I? ::)

Title: Re: Bad Ebay Sellers - buyers beware Post by the_wizard_666 on 20. Jan 2006 at 08:33
$510? The hell? Even if it IS legit, that's still way too damn high :P
|
|
Title: Re: Bad Ebay Sellers - buyers beware Post by Hounder on 20. Jan 2006 at 13:04
$500+ for a self wrapped Zelda comlete......how sly. ::) I didn't think people would actually even pay that much for one! That's crazy. Plus I NORMALLY don't buy from sellers with PRIVATE feedback. Just gives me a weird feeling I guess.
|
|
Title: Re: Bad Ebay Sellers - buyers beware Post by the_wizard_666 on 20. Jan 2006 at 13:50
Why the hell is that even an option? All feedback should be public. That's my opinion anyway...
God forbid that guy ever gets a complete Stadium Events...he'd be wrapping that up in a heartbeat :D |
|
Title: Re: Bad Ebay Sellers - buyers beware Post by Jedi_QuestMaster on 20. Jan 2006 at 20:05
The price would go down on account of him reopening the box & getting his finger prints on the manual & cart. Someone should contact his buyers - see if the box was missing that little styrofoam thing.

Title: Re: Bad Ebay Sellers - buyers beware Post by Hounder on 20. Jan 2006 at 20:31
WTF!!!! $3,550!!!!! People are insane!
Wait a minute.....looks like some phoney ebay ids up there. This auction will probably be relisted soon. Anybody know who onegamer99 is? He placed some outrageous bids on this game and has a -2 feedback. lol |

I know this isn't NES related, but want to warn everyone anyway that may be buying arcade cabinets or boards.
Bought a cabinet from bbu97159656tcy, Bill Burger, runs the Game Room in Anaheim, CA. Asked before I bought if it was the only one he had, to which he replied yes. Do a BIN, pick it up, get it home and realize that it is not the same one in the auction. Short background, my truck was in the shop, had a rental so other things on my mind and did not have the printed auction to compare to on pickup. They refused to even let me even plug it in at their shop to test it. Different machine, no power, and realized there were not even any joysticks. Was a total jerk trying to get the problem fixed. Then after I returned it, he relisted the same auction knowing he didn't have it. Of course eBay won't do anything about it. Went around with them for several weeks. So be warned, this guy is a sleaze. |

Title: Re: Bad Ebay Sellers - buyers beware Post by Jedi QuestMaster on 12. Mar 2006 at 04:11
Thanks. I live down closer to San Diego, but an arcade pick-up-only auction up north would be a possibility for me.
I'm looking out for the two TMNT games. |

yourmyfluffyone (fritz ghm, ebaynene@yahoo.com) from the US eBay...
...he had an item on eBay.com several months ago and I forgot to bid on it so I asked whether I could still buy it for the starting price, which he agreed upon. He didn't accept PayPal, so I had to go out of my way to get US dollars and send them to him. To save on costs I had asked for Surface mail, which can take up to 1-2 months. I waited it out until more than 2 months passed, and started e-mailing him, never receiving a reply. I then checked his eBay account and it turned out he was still active on eBay, so I msg'd him using the eBay messaging system...and he still did not reply. His feedback rating may be good, but he clearly scammed me when he had the chance, so I would not recommend dealing with him at all. |

If you used paypal, use your buyer protection. You can get you money back no problem that way. If you sent a check, stop payment, if you sent a money order, you are crappity smacked. Although this is technically mail fraud, so you could contact the post office, and get a postal inspector on the case.

Title: Re: Bad Ebay Sellers - buyers beware Post by jajaja on 05. Apr 2006 at 10:13
No problem :)
Before filling it out you might want to send a mail to the seller with the ic3 link and tell him you will report him if you dont get your game. When people see the words police and FBI they usualy get scared. This might resolve that he actually send you the game or give you the money back quickly. |

Title: Re: Bad Ebay Sellers - buyers beware Post by Speedy_NES on 20. Jun 2006 at 13:47
I don't know if this guy is a bad seller, but check his recent feedback, they are all either from items removed by eBay or they are FREE FEEDBACK auctions! In other words, I bet you most if not all of that feedback from "sellers" is from those types of auctions - so this guy might be building a cheap reputation in order to scam, who knows:
http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=the_games_machine_it Oh yeah, forgot to mention that he just had like 60 items listed, which were all removed by eBay at the same time...so I'm guessing there's something going on between this seller and eBay. (EDIT: The seller told me that his items were removed because he had written that the buyer has to pay for the PayPal fees). |

Vidiots is a member here at nesworld now and has cleaned up his act. He's known as burnambill. We have a thread on it here at the forums if you want to look at it and read:
http://www.nesworld.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?num=1147362138 However, we've gotten to the point where we really don't talk about it anymore. Some still show their disapproval of him being here while others are giving him a second chance. Welcome to the forums :) I'm hoping one of these days you break your sealed game lot down so I can buy a bunch of 'em separately :) |
