I know several here have Color Dreams game so post away if you see that you have a varient that isn't listed :) Back labels and all!

Edit: I need to find out what color the back labels on Menace Beach and King Neptune are. Thanks.

Damn, thats alot of variants :o

Btw, isnt it spelled variants?

Title: Re: Color Dream Varients

Lol....I think it is spelled "variants". Oh well.

It's a ton of variations! With more still coming as well. NGD and MF2 say there are 8 different Bible Adventures alone o.O

I was fixing to send you a message about that Baby Boomer contest one, but I actually read the whole message before I did.  I will get you a full list of mine like I promised today for sure, just as soon as I get back from the flea market.  There are a few I need to add onto the game list to, good work bro :D

Interesting pic I found:

Perhaps maybe Hellraiser and Happy Camper if released were suppose to be competition carts as well? Would of been cool....of course, would have been cool if they were even released :-/

Maybe there's a proto of Happy Camper out there with competition back label!

Just kidding ;)

The ad is nice though.  If Menace Beach had been on there, then the ad could have been used as slight evidence against a Baby Boomer competition version.  I would not be surprised that there is a competition Baby Boomer, especially given the latest Baby Boomer variants.

By the way, is there any difference in-game for these competition versions?

Title: Re: Color Dream Varients
Post by Hounder on 25. Jun 2006 at 16:40
From my research I haven't found that there's any difference. Supposedly, if you have one of the carts with the competition label on the back, you may or may not have a winning cart. You were suppose to see a pot of gold before you hit the second level. If you saw the gold then a winning number appeared. I've never heard of anyone winning it.

I emailed Jon Valesh regarding the competition carts to see if he knows anything about them and also about Hellraiser and Happy Camper. Maybe he will know something :) Btw, Jon Valesh was one of the programmers for Color Dreams ;)

Hey Hounder
I added all my Color Dream and Bunch variants to your list (being a mod, I just updated the list myself to save time).  I mainly added ones that didn't have much info behind them, but had a few that you didn't.  I will get my Wisdom Tree ones added later tonight, I have to head out for a bit now.

Which French/German ones do you know of?

I know of:

French:

King Neptune's Adventure (assuming Bronty's is French)
P'Radikus Conflict
Raid 2020

German:

Robodemons

Also, Master Chu and Drunkard Hu was sold/imported in France, but it doesn't have the French stickers nor the French manual insert.

Actually, it did have the stickers and printed manual :) Maybe there are 2 versions. I took a picture of my copy.

The ones i've got is:

- Master Chu and Drunkard Hu (french sticker in front and back)
- Master Chu and Drunkard Hu (german sticker in front)
- Metal Fighter (french sticker in front and back)
- Raid 2020 (french sticker in front and back)
- Robodemons (french sticker in front and back)

I also have 2 captain Comics bought from Spain and France, but none have stickers. Both are black carts.

Awesome!!  Thanks for the pics!  You're right, there must be two versions of Master Chu...which makes sense because the copy I bought had a black cartridge, just like Hounder's copy, and both of our copies have the French sticker on the top of the box and the back of the manual (and from different sellers).

I've also bought various black Captain Comics from multiple countries in Europe, also none with stickers on the box.  On a side note, I've bought some AVE and Bunch Games games within Europe that also came with the instruction "sheet" in a different language, but no stickers on the boxes aside from a sticker telling you to use the Game Key and stating that it includes an extra manual in a different language.

Nope, i bought both of my Master Chu copies long time ago. Both are blue.

Ye, it must be 2 diffrent versions in France then :) I forgot to mention that i have Baby Boomer too. I bought it from Germany. It also have a paper manual. I'll check soon if it has stickers.

EDIT: It doesnt have any stickers. The manual is actually in english. Its just a printed paper, much smaller than the others. As mentioned, i bought it from Germany, but where its originaly from i have no idea.

BTW--I just talked with the guy who won the black Baby Boomer, it has a black back label.  He also said the seller was a complete jerk to deal with.  He swapped games out and stuff with out asking.

Hounder you should update the list to show all the European titles that has been mentioned.

Thanks NGD and Dain. I will have to add those all to the list with some of the others (I still haven't updated yet). I will add the foreign ones as well. Here's what I got on the foreigns:

Baby Boomer - German
Captain Comic - German
Captian Comic - Spain
King Neptune's Adventures - French
Master Chu and the Drunkard Hu - German
Master Chu and the Drunkard Hu - French
Metal Fighter - French
P'radikus Conflict - French
Raid 2020 - French
Robodemons - French
Robodemons - German

Someone correct me if any of these are wrong. I won't add them right yet to the list until I'm sure :)

I would remove the Captain Comics from the list, because jajaja said they didn't have stickers or anything, and I've bought Captain Comics from Belgium, the Netherlands, and I think also Italy, of which none had any marks to identify them as a foreign release.  You can also remove the Baby Boomer - German, because jajaja said it didn't have any stickers and the manual sheet was in English, so I doubt that it was released in Germany.  You can also add a second Master Chu to the list, the black cart one that you and I both purchased from France (no stickers on the front/back box nor French manual sheet, but they did have stickers on the back of the manual and top of the box).

Dont know if this is already captured elsewhere.

Bible Adventures (blue) also has a front label variation.  One has a blurb about a "scripture copyright" and one without it.

I dont have a pic on my machine, but I uploaded it a while back (you can use the arrows to scroll from one picture to the other)

My blue Menace Beach cart has a blue competition label.
My black King of Kings camel on front has the standard caution back label.

side note/question..
And I never really thought about it before, but my menace beach has box, manual, stryo, and a blue thin-cardboard cart sleeve.

On the blue cart sleeve is a guy who looks like he's from doom holding a sword with two bats in the background. No text or numbers. Just the black image.
I was wondering if anybody could tell me if this is something that came with the game new in box or if it is something that the video store i picked it up from put in with some of their games.

The sword master complete that i got from the same place doesn't have it, but doesn't have any kind of sleeve. I'm just curious thanks.

Lol....I had the same thoughts man. They actually both came from sealed games. I have a friend that is going to send me one and it's a black copy. So I was like "Heck, let's open one of mine and see what color it is". Mind you, it was already in bad shape so I wasn't really all that worried about opening it. It just so happened to be black. And then I got the urge to open my sealed Raid 2020 (it too was in bad shape, well....it just had some discoloring to it) and it just so happened to be black as well! Woo hoo!!! Made me VERY happy!

I'm not about to look through the 300+ nes lots that have ended on ebay in the past week. I will keep an eye on for it and ask around. Thanks for letting us know though :)

I actually think I have heard or seen of a blue spirutual warfare, also.

As far as color versions go I bet it has to do with location.  In Kansas I have never seen any CD games, and very few unlicensed games out there.  Most of them are WT mostly because of a local Bible Store. And all I've ever seen out in the wild were black. It all probably depends on which area got what lot and what Color Dreams had in their inventory to slap tgether at the time.

The Joshua I haven't edited yet as the black with black back-label is the only found version. Also, are you sure those other two don't have the labels taken off? Be great if you could show some pics.

Also, as for the regional theory, this has been suggested before as it's much easier to find the blue Secret Scout in the West opposed the East (so I've been told). I have a theory about all of it I will post later.

bible buffet and spiritual warfare dont have any actual label the words are like engraved on the cart.

That means they were molded into the cart via the plastic caste.  I have one or two games like that from WT but I don't recall which ones, it was before college that I last looked at them.

I guess I didn't realize this was rare.  I picked this up at a flea market this summer.  It's a little discolored.  The back label is intact, no holes or rips in the labels.  No rental stickers either.

Holy freaking nuts.  I would have beat money on that one too.  Can you get me a nice close up shot of the game Mike?  I want to add it to the list.  I am truly amazed at this week in NES findings.

Anyone seen a blue Joshua or King of Kings?  Let just find them all, lol.  I am glad to be proven wrong, makes me happy  :D

Here is the only games that I haven't seen in color varaints.
Joshua--blue
King of Kings--blue
Metal Figher--black
Mission Cobra--black
Tagin Dragon--black (I think I have seen it, but don't have an image)
Robodemons--black
Sunday Funday--blue (no way it exists)
Opertaion Secret Storm--blue
Bible Buffet--blue

WOW, just WOW.

One more thing to Mike.  Can you get me a pic of the title screen of the game.  I still need an image for v5.1 for the game list.  Sorry for so many requests...but it will be used for everyone soon enough.

Thanks Mike.  I already have a 6.0 screenshot, so I don't need that.  But thanks a ton for the pic.  Awesome stuff.

Is it 6.0 or 6.1? I think over at nesforums you said 6.1. I'll have to recheck to make sure.

The Blue one is V6.0.  The sealed copy that I opened which was black was V6.1.  The back label is blue.

Added NINE Bible Adventures variations to the two already listed making 11 total O.O The number of variants is now at 78 ;)

EDIT: Make that 79. Just added another Joshua (or I should say the only other Joshua) variant to the list.

Awesome :)

By the way, should we start differentiating the backs of black carts between the "Color Dreams Inc" and "Manufacture by Color Dreams"?  I noticed that all Wisdom Tree games that don't have an embossed back-label have the "Manufacture by.." and the black CD games except for a one or two have the "Color Dreams Inc" on the back.  I also noticed that the embossed backs have the same message as the "Manufacture" but then with the correct spelling (+d).
