Title: Ebay ordeal....... Post by TheFinalDayComes on 23. Aug 2006 at 05:22
I purchased 2 games from a seller. Powerblace and Sqoon for $7.48 a few days later I received a package from this seller with 3 games in it. Star Trek Generations, Star Trek 25th, Goal 2.
$7.48 for those 3 games is a good deal.....but I contacted the seller and told him what happened. He accidently shipped me the wrong games (obvisouly). He told me he will fix it when the other buyer contacts him. Its been over a week since then and I still have not received a word from him. What else should I do? I am happy with the other 3 games..I didn't have them. I am being honest with him by telling him but I'm not pushing the issue...........Advice. |

I'd wait for his reply and contact him after two weeks if he did not respond.

Would you like to be the person who bought the Star Trek games & Goal 2 only to receive Powerblade & Sqoon? Keep pushing.

When I did contact the seller he said that he would have me send the games to the other buyer and he will send me mine then the seller will reimburse me on shipping. Now I have to trust both the seller and the other buyer. I just don't like that.

Yeah, F that. You should both send your games to the seller & he should reship them. What if this is all a ploy? I mean, three people... trust no one.

I also think it is an elaborate plot to steal 7.98 from you!!!!

Yeah, okay, maybe it isn't. If it were, why would the seller ship you those three games? :P

I say check the history and find out who bought those other 3 games and contact them and see if they got your games and go from there.

Sort of the same thing happend to me over a year ago. I bought 4-5 complete NES games from a guy. When i got the package i see that Wrecking Crew is included, but not Donkey Kong, which i originaly bought. I didnt have Wrecking Crew so it was all good. I told him that i got it instead, but it didnt matter. He said sorry and hoped that the other guy who originaly bought WC didnt complain hehe. I just checked his feedback and he didnt recive any negative or neutral feedback around that time so i guess it all worked out fine :)

I would just keep what I have and leave it at that. The games are worth about near the same value, even though the 3 you got are worth a little bit mroe so why bother. Plus this way you get one extra game to play ;) I would just let the issue drop and not contact the seller anymore. No way in hell I would ship them off first before you receive the actually games you ordered.

I agree with NGD. You did the right thing by contacting the seller, but if the seller doesn't want to make the situation right, then that's his problem and not yours. I'd say contact him one more time, and if he doesn't reply, then don't worry about it.
Then my advice is to sell me Star Trek Next Generation, because that's one of the few games I'm missing. I'll give you $7.48 for it. ;D |

LOL sorry burnabill ;D but I didn't have either one of them either. I don't want the seller to leave me any kind of neg. feedback about me keeping these. But he would be the one losing out having to cover all these shipping costs. I will e-mail him and just let him know I am fine about keeping these. I just don't feel comfortable sending them to the other buyer and worrying about getting my shipping costs covered. Very frusterating

I had something of the same sort happen to me. I ended up mailing my item to a third party and did get my item. It's a mess, but it probably really is an accident. I was grumpy about it for a bit until I realized that it wasn't much money and that people make mistakes. Ebay buyers have been nice to me as a seller when I've made little mistakes.

If you know the other buyer's feedback, and it is very high, it might be safe. If it were me, I would feel more comfortable sending it to the seller, though, rather than do a deal outside of eBay.

Thanks for the advice everyone I am goin to contact the seller and see what we can do. I would feel more comfortable sending him the games. BUT I did buy a Zelda promo game off ebay but when I got it, it didn't work the seller told me to send it back and he would send me one that worked.....never heard from him again. Whatever happens happens, its only $7 :-/.
by the way welcome to the forums Cinder, nice to see new guys around. What kinf of collection do you have? |

I had the same thing happen to me, except I was the seller. I accidentally shipped a Tengen Tetris poster to the wrong guy, and instead he received a Mega Man 3 cart -- needless to say, he wasn't happy (I wouldn't be either!).
Both buyers were kind enough to ship the items back to ME (not each other), and I then re-shipped them to the correct persons. It's a cost of doing business (making mistakes), and they do happen from time-to-time. However, you should not send the games to the other buyer -- if you do, it's a liability on your shoulders, when it should be on the seller's shoulders. Just politely tell the seller that you'd rather ship the games back to him, and he should be accepting of that -- if not, then keep the games and consider it a nice snag :-) -Dain |

You do bring up a good point Dain. The seller did finally contact me and gave me the other buyers address and said that he would reimburse me for shipping once he got his games. I haven't sent the games out yet I was waiting until I got mine first :).

Something simular happend to me just 2 days ago actually. Some weeks ago i bought a GBA game on Ebay, recived it, e-mailed the seller that i got it, left positive feedback and all was ok. On Saturday i recive the same game again, from the same seller! lol.
I e-mailed him about it asking why, but he havnt replied yet. I have a feeling that he read the mail, since i did a "best offer" on one of his auctions and he replied pretty fast to it. |

About 2 years ago I purchased Super C from a reseller. Three weeks went by and I didnt recieve anything, so I filed a PayPal dispute, which got the sellers attention. 3 days later I recieved the game. Another few days later, I recieved the same game again!

I thought I would update everyone on the situation:
The seller contacted me and gave me the other buyers address and said he would reimburse me for shipping and to just send the games out. Well I packaged the games and waited until I got mine first, just in case (took a while coming from canada) I recieved it today the powerblade game is perfect but the sqoon game is not what was pictured it has a name on it under the label in black marker.(sometimes you can't get it all off). Now I don't know if the seller gave me a different one than pictured, the one in the auction wasn't like that or the other buyer switched it with one he had. I contacted the seller and I'm waiting for a response. |

Seller just contacted me and said the following
"if he did replace the cart, I will contact him and possibly give him a negative. As for your case, you can try to remove permenant marker with motor oil on cloth. If it doesn't work, I can refund you the money. Please let me know" "If he did replace the cart" sounds strange, the seller should know if the game he originally sent had marker on it. but he is willing to fix the problem, I'm very happy about that. People do make mistakes I understand but if the other buyer did switch games thats just bullsh*t. At least in the end it should work out for me. ;D |

Possibly the other seller didn't replace the cart, just put his or someone elses name he was going to give the game to on there and then found out about the mistake. Seems odd and bizarre but stranger things have happened. I hate eBay. I had some awesome experiences but I've had a few shitty ones that really ruined it for me. eBay always sides with the sellers over the buyers. Which is BS since we pay the bills. eBay free since 2004 and loving it! As for marker, try goo gone, being very careful to stay away from the label. |

I have my own way of getting the marker off. Mr. clean magic eraser. Sometimes it doesn't get all of it off. but it will look alot better.
