Post by TheFinalDayComes on 31. Aug 2006 at 21:58
There are alot of types of bits on ebay that will open up your NES games.  A 3.2mm and a 4.5mm Which one is the size for opening up games. Also does anyone know a good seller for these there are different kinds.

3.8mm is used to open NES and SNES games.
4.5mm is used to open the SNES console and Mega Drive/Genesis games.

I bought one of mine from this and this guy.

Sellers rip you off with shipping, it's cheapest to buy both bits at the same time, you never know when you're gonna need the 4.5mm bit.  The 3.8 is for opening NES games.

This one's free if you're a smoker.

Alternatively, just get a plastic bit of doweling, some screw holes on systems are deeper than carts. The bic should work on most carts though. Get one with the longer tapered tip, the click ones usually do better. The cheap non-clic have too snub-nosed an end.

mcmelectronics.com also sells both of them for around $4 each plus shipping (comes to about $15).
