Title: Last NES Game Released
Post by Hounder on 04. Sep 2006 at 16:07
I've heard numerous times that it was Wario Woods released in 1994. But I just recently read that Sunday Funday was released in 1995. Thus making it the last produced NES game. Or am I thinking Wario Woods is the last licensed game? Can someone help me out here? :)

Oh, I know Huge Insect had a rerelease (or whatever you want to call it) in 2003 but I'm not including that ;)

Is Huge Insect from 2003? Damn.. i thought it was some old game from ~1990 that was never released :) Then i understand why it isnt so sought after.

The latest official game that was released must be Lion King with the SCN code. It was released as late as May 25th, 1995. Altho i dont think its the last official game to be produced tho, i think that is Wario Woods.

Yeah Huge Insect if you include unlicenced games and Wario's Woods if you mean licenced games only.

Well, Huge Insect was never really available to the entire public, only to a select couple of individuals, so I would consider the last unlicensed release to be Sunday Funday.

Ok...so it was the last licensed game. Thanks guys. Also, jajaja, I just edited the Huge Insect search over at nintendoage.com about their releases. Check it out if you like :) Also, it was 2002, not 2003. My bad.

This should break it down for everyone to understand a little easier.
Wario Woods--last NTSC licensed game release
Sunday Funday--last unlicensed game released
Lion King--last PAL game released
Huge Insect--not officially sold to public, but still avalable if you know how to get it.  You can still buy them, but only a handful of people have the contact information to get it.

I disagree,

Wario woods was the last game that nintendo made fore the nes,but the last licend game fore the nes was not lion king but jungle book.

There was one version of Lion King released after Jungle Book from all the info I have seen.  The other Lion King games were released before Jungle Book, but one was released a bit later.

Depends on where you live. In Scandinavia its Lion King. I think this is the lastest release date worldwide for a official NES game.

Jungle Book   1994-08-25
Lion King        1995-05-25

Thats 9 months later than Jungle Book. I have no idea if Lion King was made before Jungle Book.

The date of the lion king is incorrect atleast fore Holland and i have evidence.

A commercial in a game magazine named power unlimited,in this magazin there is a commercial of 2 page's from virgin, with the games jungle book, lion king, aladdin and beauty and the beast.

the date of this magazin december 1994

and to be honest, about wario woods being the last nintendo produkt fore nes is no confusion, but the last nes licinsed games where all from virgin and i have always heared that jungle book was the last.

The Lion King had 7 PAL releases. The one released in Holland was released in 1994. The other 6 have unsure dates but I too have read the last Lion King was released in 1995 (in fact I read it somewhere as well just yesterday).

are you not confused with the snes releasings?

Title: Re: Last NES Game Released

El Rey Leon - Spain - NES-KL-ESP
IL Re Leone - Italy - NES-KL-ITA
König Der Löwen - Nintendo of Europe - NES-KL-NOE
Le Roi Leon - France - NES-KL-FRA
Lion King, The - United Kingdom - NES-KL-UKV
Lion King, The - Scandinavia - NES-KL-SCN
Lion King, The - Holland - NES-KL-HOL

The last one on that list was released in 1994. I'm not saying you're wrong but I too have heard and read the same as the others agreeing on the Lion King.

I didn't realize this. Who has the info. and why would only a handful of people know. Wouldn't they want more people to know so they can sell more. How can I get my hands on one?

You would have to have Sachen's contact info and send them a message.  Only a handful of people have that email address though, it is tough to come by.  The people who already own them don't want more copies being made cause it only lowers the value of the existing carts.

I cant imagine that the info would be hard to get. Just contact someone from Taiwan and they can probly help you, unless Sachen is called something completely different down there. Also, im under the impression that Taiwan isnt exactly the most english speaking country in the world.

I looked for 2 years before I found the contact info.  It is indeed under a different company name.  There English isn't very good either, so it is hard to communicate also.  Plus the have strange conditions for buying.  Have to buy 5 of each title at a time, and you have to pay with a wire transfer.  This is were Rob.webb and nes.god gets there from.

I have the info to contact them but it's too much of a pain in the butt to try to talk with them and get stuff. Much easier just to find someone that has the contacts and buy from them like I do :)

Wiretransfer isnt much of a problem tho, atleast not for me hehe :) I bought something from Taiwan not long ago and payed with this method. Did you know that there are over 2000 banks in Taiwan? Its crazy lol.

Title: Re: Last NES Game Released
Post by Hounder on 07. Sep 2006 at 16:33
My bank charges me to do wire transfers and it's too much of a hassle. And why the heck does Taiwan have so many banks? o.O It's an island the size of a freakin' thumbnail! lol

lol i have no idea. When i transfered money there i needed to find some BIC number so i called my bank. They helped and they mentioned that it was over 2000 banks there. I think about 25 million lives there so i wonder why there are so many banks, unless my bank lied hehe :P

So......just to clarify here. The Lion King was the last released official NES game then, right? Does anyone have the dates for all 7 Lion King releases? Or at least the month/year so we can add them to Dain's database....

Title: Re: Last NES Game Released

If you count the release dates all over the world i would assume that Lion King SCN is the last game that was released yes. A very pricey game btw, the last complete went for about $300. High price due to many SCN collectors (supply and demand :))

For the other Lion King releases, i dont know. I would guess they where released around the same time as the movie tho, since like NOE and FRA code of this game is pretty easy to find.

(Bought my TLK-SCN-copy (cart-only) for 50 SEK (~6.50 USD) this summer. :D )

Lion King opened in cinemas across Sweden by christmas '94. I guess it was the same all around Europe, so the other releases of TLK for the NES couldn't have been released that much earlier (end of '94).

Almost the same price range as TLK-SCN:
Aladdin  1995-02-23  NES-AJ-SCN
The movie opened in cinemas in '92 though. This was the only other game released in Scandinavia in '95. Long time to wait before releasing the videogame for the movie.

That prize is crazy, especially because the other PAL-versions are not that hard to find. Are there any other PAL games from a specific region with such a high price, while PAL-games from other regions are significantly cheaper?

There are some, but Lion King and Aladdin (as mentioned above) is the 2 games that got crazy price difference when it comes to codes. You have some other games too like Duck Tales 2 and Chip & Dale 2. Those too can go for $70 - $80 complete with SCN code. Kirby's Adventure SCN will probly go for around $70 - $100 complete, if not more.

Because you're not cool enough to know that information.  Now run along...  :)

Just an FYI to people that know, and those that never met me.  I have become far more sarcastic and cynical from 2 years ago.  Bastards like me are a dime a dozen but I still want to have fun.

Is it because of the English screen text? If yes, HOL-versions also have English text.

Nope, its all about the code :) All Lion King releases for NES english in-game text. The box is also fully in english. I know the HOL label is english, but what about the box?

I actually found a complete SCN copy 1 week ago and got it for like $35!
