Title: What Version of Mario Bros Is This? Post by Hounder on 05. Sep 2006 at 14:16
Just curious what version and/or country this Mario Bros game is from. Dain has a pretty good list over at his site with lots of pics but I still couldn't find this one:

If you're asking about country code, I think it's NOE. This is the rerelease of Mario Bros, released in parts of Europe as a part of the "Classic Series" which was Soccer, Pinball, Super Mario Bros 3, Mario Bros, Zelda and a few other games rereleased with new label art... the Mario Bros game has updated graphics too...
I have a very old article, or whatever you want to call it (sure needs an update) http://www.nesworld.com/gerelese.htm |

Thanks Martin :) Appreciate it. Interesting article as well. I found someone selling this cart and was just curious if it was worth picking up.
Also, can the old articles of nesworld be accessed somehow through the frontpage? |

Here is the full list of them that I have on my gamelist. There might be a few more, but this is all the ones I know about in the Classic Series Set:
Blades of Steel Donkey Kong Classics Ice Hockey Legend of Zelda Mario Bros: Classic Series Pinball Popeye Soccer Soccer Super Mario 3 Tennis Zelda II: The Adventures of Link It also wasn't just NOE code games that have a Classic Series release. There are also -FRA, -NOE, NOE-1, -FRA-1, and -ITA-1 codes. Games like Mario Bros have both the -NOE code and the -ITA-1 code. I need to start picking these babies up soon too. Hounder if you don't pick up the auction you were talking about, please send me the link to it. ~~NGD |

I know there aren't too many Famicom fans here, but does anyone know if this rerelease Mario Bros. has anything to do with the Return of Mario Bros. released for the Famicom.

NGD, PM sent with several others on your list I found.
Martin, in that article it says that the Mario 3 box was green. Do you have a pic of this? I would like to see it. |

I'm not too sure about Blades of Steel... keep in mind that the rest of the games are produced by Nintendo themselves.

I did have a pic of the Blades of Steel, but can't seem to find it now. The code is is NOE-1 on Blades of Steel. I was suprised that is existed too, but seems it does.

I'm pretty confident I've seen the PAL Blades of Steel classic series as well. I'll keep an eye out for it.

I've seen PAL-A and PAL-B of Blades of Steel but they look just like the NTSC version. I would assume the Classic would look different. I will be keeping an eye out for it as well. Surprising how it's all Nintendo game and then a Konami in there. Perhaps there are more Konami games not on the list.
