I loaded up Maniac Mansion FC ROM for the first time today just to check and i notice that the game is completly different from the US/EU release. It doesnt have that detailed gfx, the kids are totaly different, music is different etc.
In the US/EU version the room scrolls when you move, in the FC it doesnt. Its only 1 static room at the screen. This makes the game looks smoother. It also looks like it have the same stuff as the US prototype, with the naked statue etc. I couldnt get pass the tentacle (i fed him everything, but still he didnt want to let me pass) so i couldnt check for the porno poster and the text behind the mummy, but im sure its all there.
Its kinda hard to play it without japanese knowledge, but its possibly with some practice. Just learn the menu whats "take" and "open" etc. and it shouldnt be that hard. I wish there was a english prototype or a homemade english patch for this game, would makes things much easier :)
