I would like to know as well.  I see them pop up on ebay for like 10 for $15 + shipping, but that sure seems like a lot.  There has to be somewhere to buy them in bulk.

I purchased 10 of them a while back for around 18 dollars.  They're very handy to have, but I wouldn't buy more than 10 at the price I paid.

Actually, you can get them straight from the manufacturer in bulk and much cheaper then Dan would sell them for.

Plastic box protectors.

Hope that helps. Why should someone else make a profit off these when all they would have to do is share this information.

That's not even my source.  That's the source Devon was using as you know - go ahead and order from those guys if you want.    Last time I checked with them they were charging about a dollar each and had a 2000 min order quantity.  I might charge a little more but I'm also not requiring anybody to shell out $2k per shot.

Oh, and thanks for the support Atwood.    ;)

Last time we purchased from them they cost $.55 each and there was no minimum, although we purchased many of them. That was sometime ago, things could change.  Guess others will know when they contact that manufacturer.

Title: Re: NES Box protectors
Post by bronty on 10. Oct 2006 at 01:17
All I can tell you guys is that last time I contacted him he said the price of the plastic was way up due to the price of oil being up.     And that was probably two years ago before the real run up in oil prices.    Now I don't know if that was just sales pitch to cover the price being increased for another reason or whatever, but that's what he said, and he wanted a min. 2000 ordered.  I do not recall his exact price quote but it was close to a dollar (90c maybe?) before any taxes or shipping.

Yes, I knew you would know who's source that was, that's why I mentioned that first.  ;D  Actually that isn't where I would get them from either. I would go with my other source where you can buy them for $.50 or less  plus shipping depending on the quantity.

$0.4900/piece  @ 25
0.3700 @ 200
0.2800 @ 1000
0.2300 @ 5000

Yes it is and someone else isn't making a few cents off each or $1 each.  :-X

NGD, since your a mod here, you should start a thread and get a group buy together, there's enough collectors here that probably would be interested and maybe you could get the 5000@ .23 a piece that's only 1,150.  If you could get 5 people to chip in and each get 1000 cases your only talking 230.00 per person saving you 50.00 on the .28 price of  1000 pieces.

Just an idea as long as atwood gives you the source

are these boxes the actual size of a nes box though? they're not bigger than the actual box? I have some in N64/SNES size and they rock, so I'd love to find some for my NES boxes :-/

A normal nes box measures 5"x7"x7/8"

The plastic cases measure 5 3/8"x7 3/8"x1"

There aren't many companies that make these cases so there is a good chance this is the same place Dan gets his. And he charges how much? I'm not saying this is the same place, but if it is, someone might be taking advantage of other game collectors?

Just shut the hell up Tim.  If you have a cheaper source good for your but you don't have to be a dick about it (assuming that it's physically possible for you to not be a complete dick in everything you do).    I pay $1 each myself for them.  I charge 1.50.  Whoopdee fricking doo.  It's not even worth the time which is why I don't bother advertisting them out.   If people can get them cheaper somewhere else more power to 'em.

Both parties simmer down.  I don't want this turning into a flame war.  Play nice or the thread will get locked.  If there is a cheaper source, please post the info so we all can benefit from it.

OK, here is the deal I will make for anyone that might be interested in any of the box protectors. NES or SNES.

$.50 each shipped in the continental USA. If shipping is international I will try and get you an exact quote depending on the amount  of protectors and your location.

If anyone is interested send an email to atwoodt@grantps.net or send me a pm.

Tim

I really can't. You see I'm a "dick" and it cost me money to have them shipped to me and it costs money to have them shipped to whomever might want any.  The shipping is included it that price.
I'm just trying to get these to ones that might want some at a descent price.

Funny considering your ebay auction has a BIN at twice your cost.   But no, that's not hypocritical or anything...

Especially when all you would have to do is "share the information" with other collectors and with this board as you mention above.   But of course you'd hate it if I got cheap protectors, wouldn't you Tim?   Pretty ironic that you come on asking for the info to be made public yet you won't do it yourself.

But hey we both know you wouldn't even be on this thread if my name hadn't been mentioned. ;)  I'm just glad that other people are going to get something positive out of your immaturity.  Glad I could help ;)

You give me way to much credit.

Last time I knew ebay wasn't affiliated with Nesworld. Yes thereis a BIN on the 100 protectors listed on ebay with a min. of $50, noone is forcing anyone to use the BIN. If they sell for $50 for the 100 cases that's fine with me. Last time I knew it also costs $ to sell on ebay.

I was only offering an alternative to a 100 protectors sale of $200 shipped compared to $50, here and on digitpress. If they'd rather pay your higher amount that's also fine with me, it's their $.

You know Dan, as usual, you still run off with the mouth without knowing what you're talking about. You do have only one statement correct, you are the reason for me not sharing this source. BTW, would anyone like to read a funny email?

Well I said my peace. If the adm. feels this needs to be lock more power to 'em. I have nothing more to say.

I agree...not for nothing but unless someone decides to give us a phone number or a URL I think it's overdue time for the ol padlock. The horse is beat and this thread has ceased to be informative.

I tend to agree....thread locked.  If a phone number or URL would like be added, please send me a PM atwoodtm.  Not posting the info to spite Bronty isn't fair for all the rest of us.  Thread closed.

Bronty wanted me to add this

"One helpful item should be added to that locked thread.  The box protectors IMO are much improved by first putting the game in a baggie and then placing the whole works in the box protector.  The baggie is clear and doesn't take away at all aesthetically, yet it stops the game from sliding around inside the protector which is especially nice if the game is mint or sealed.
