Title: Wikipedia - gyromite Post by Jedi QuestMaster on 25. Oct 2006 at 16:45
It states on Wikipedia that every Gyromite cart was packaged with ROB. Is that true? I've seen normal boxes of this game on Ebay.

I believe it's the other way around. Every ROB was packaged with a Gyromite cart. The game was sold by itself as well such as this auction:

The stand alone ROB did not come with a game. There are two versions of Gyromite. The regular version, and a big box version that came with some pieces for ROB.

Um...so that's:
Some ROBs came with Gyromite. Some ROBs came without Gyromite. Some Gyromites came with ROB. Some Gyromites came without ROB. :-? Oh...and: All Gyromites did not come with ROBs. All ROBs did not come with Gyromites. |

I thought that didn't sound right. That was the same auction I was looking at, Hounder. :) |

The big boxed gyro is kinda hard to get, you hardly see it complete. Stack Up is much easier to obtain.

but if some gyromyites just came in a normal box (with no extra stuff), then where were you supposed to get the gyromyte pieces from to use with ROB?

I always thought gyromite came in the following:
Deluxe Set with ROB (This was the regular box version) By itself (This was the big box version) The only reason I could think of that they might have offered a regular boxed version is for people who may have lost or broken their copies... |

Wasn't the small box Gyromite included with the Deluxe set? Early consoles had boxes for the games that came with them...

Okay, the timing here is perfect:
Last night in Game History class, my instructor brought in his ROB like he said he would. But he brought in the whole Deluxe Set box!! :o I was impressed as he still had the games in their original boxes! :o The system even came with an extra 72 pin connector. This was the first time I've ever seen a working ROB in action - & yeah, pretty lame, but still interesting. Of course, people in the class were being idiots. >:( |

I can imagine. I think people are just taught to hate on things, doesn't matter if they're new or old, but it helps if it's something dated. I play my NES on the big screen in my store and about 1/4 of them respect and enjoy, 1/2 ignore and the last 1/4 wonder why I'm not playing a PS2 game; why I'd hook that antique up :) |

Well if it helps, someone brought in a PS2 (with only a demo disk, I think) & people were hating on that.

If you don't have a ROB (even if you do) plug in two controllers. The first controls Dr. What'shisface & the second controls the gates.
