Post by tim on 31. Oct 2006 at 02:44
got caught in a speed trap on the way home from work...bullshit!

car in front of me was going really fast, i was going the limit, crappity smacker clocks the car in front of me, then pulls me over and gives me a ticket for 42 in a 30.

so lame, i don't know if i should go to court and fight it or not.

just had to vent

Yeah that really sucks. It's always a bitch to spend the time fighting it; but sometimes that's better than paying the cash. I just wrote a check for $100, having been caught parked on the street during a restricted time of day. That money could have gone to gaming, but oh well...

Get your day in court, it's gotta be local and sometimes you only have to show up - the cop might skip and you'll get off without saying a word.

If you have nothing else on your record, go to court for sure.  Plead guility and let the judge sentence you.  You will either get 30 days probation or driving school and either way it will NOT go on your record and you insurance will not go up.  That is the main thing to me cause that will cost you every month for the next 7 years.  If you have stuff on your record, then I would try to fight it anyway and hope for the best.  Your first offense if usually probation for 30 days, so long as you don't get another ticket in that time it just disappears from your record.  Good luck.

if you go to court there's about a 10% chance the cop will even show up.  that is unless of course you made a scene when he pulled you over, and now it's personal.

When I was stupid, I got a huge ticket.  It was completely my fault and I was an idiot in court and they still dropped it some.  No matter what, go to court is my opinion.

Yeah, that really sucks.  It's bad enough to get a ticket when you were speeding, but it's horrible to be punished for some one else's crime.

I always pay my lawyer to fix my tickets  ;D

Go to court.  Get there at least 1 hour early (the earlier the better) to ensure that you'll be able to talk to the prosecutor about reducing the fine.  Explain the situation with respect and he'll probably drop it as much as he can.  If you only get there 10 minutes early chances are the prosecutor will be very busy and you will not have time to talk to him.

That sucks man. I got a ticket not too long ago for going 42 in a 35 zone. I had just come off the "highway" where the speed limit was 40mph into a 35 zone. Cop caught me right where it changed. Freakin' sucked. I should have fought it but sucked it up and paid the fine. If I had fought it, I'm sure I would have won. Didn't even give me a chance to slow down to 35 before pulling me over.

Just make sure you get the points dropped...that's the most important thing.  A big fine sucks but it's not the worst thing that could happen to you.  Just make sure you don't walk away from this with any points on your license.

While I was living in NY and moved around and started a new job in a new county I got pulled over every other day for a week for my exhaust, tint, and then my registration said my car was gray, not blue(after I painted it). I got a ticket each time but II have a NYS inspectors liscence so I got out of them all hehe :). Now living in Jersey its not gonna help. But hey I don't have that car anymore either.
