anybody know what font they used for the black box games?

I don't know, but I think I used Ariel when designing my Yie Ar Kung-Fu label:

I don't know why exactly but i think it was the easiest way to go back then. Also to keep it recognisable my guess would be.

It looks like a fairly generic Helvetica/Arial/sans-serif font, bold or heavy, then italicized/obliqued or tilted to the right a smidge.

Would be simple to pull off in Illustrator. Heck, get enough scans of the black-label carts and you might be able to create your own font with all characters of the Alphabet.

haha, thats a great idea.  maybe if im really bored someday.  nice yie ar kung fu label as well.
