Title: NTSC Power Glove on PAL console? Post by Sakura on 11. Nov 2006 at 23:17
Hi, can anyone tell me if a power glove that works with a NTSC console will also work with a Pal? Is there any difference?
I don't know much about these consoles, don't even have one ::), but my boyfriend is collecting Nintedo stuff, and I want to get him a glove for chrismas. I know he has several NES but I dont think he has a NTSC one, just a modded one, which can play 50 or 60Hz. I just want to know if he will be able to play with it, or if there's a adapter or something for it I'd need to get too. Well, thanks for any answers in advance. ;) |

I don't know for sure, but i guess it would work. I think the games would give you more problems on a modified PAL NES then accessories like this one. Again i don't know for sure, but i consider it more like a fitness mat, gun, they are all region free. Someone correct me if i'm wrong though.

Well, I heard you couldn't use a PAL controller on a NTSC console, or something like that. So I'd like to make sure. Every time I bought my bofriend something for his collection there was something wrong with it. I got him a game for with he needed a new adapter, and the super scope a bought him was broken. So... better no suprises this chrismas. :-[ |

Yeah i can understand, maybe Speedy_NES or Gundampilot know more about this.
About the joystick, was it so that it didn't fit, if so it can be a famicom joystick. I bought one once and'i couldn't plug it in. Anyways if you really doubt and want to be 100% sure i would go for a PAL Power Glove if i were you, that way all problems are out of the way. |

Well, sure, but it's not like they are easy to get at all. And for a reasonable price at that, I don't plan on paying 150$ :o. So I have to get what I can. Sadly the one I saw on eBay is already gone. :-/
Would just make the search easier if I don't have to go for a specific one. |

Try using European eBays instead of eBay.com...might help :P

I am pretty sure that the power glove never saw a PAL release, but I could be wrong. I have also heard of stories where NTSC power gloves don't work on PAL systems, but this ebay link seems to disagree: http://cgi.ebay.com/NES-Rare-Power-Glove-Collectors-Dream_W0QQitemZ180050141595QQihZ008QQcategoryZ3605QQcmdZViewItem This definitely sounds like a question for Speedy... |

Yes it was released in Europe, they pop up now and then. Also the Miracle Piano and some others.

I found the thread I was thinking of over on the rfgeneration boards:
http://www.rfgeneration.com/forum/index.php?topic=3462.0 The original poster is having major issues with his NTSC power glove on his PAL console. Someone recommended that he get a PAL glove, but the OP stated that there was only a North American and Japanese release of the Power Glove. As NESaholic has stated, there apparently was a European release, but with so few people knowing about it, I assume they are rather hard to come by. Hope this helps, and good luck with the gift! |

Sounds bad for me, then. I'll try to get the PAL glove from eBay, though I fear the price will get too high if it's so rare. Perhaps I can find one at a flea market, than he'll get it for his birthday.

Remember though, it may be rare, but if so few people know about it, the demand may be low enough to keep the price reasonable :) Best of luck :)

Yes, may be, but since the seller's from Australia about half of what I can pay will be covering the shipping costs ;D

As I thought, the PAL Glove got way over my buget.
But I was lucky and found a seller who sold a glove +game and was willing to send me a NTSC NES with it, for free! :D Well, my boyfriend'll need voltage-converter, or whatever they are called, to use it, hope they aren't to expensive. But is like two presents at one price. Yay! Edit: The seller just asked me if he should include the power supply, since that would increase shipping costs. Now I'm not sure if those are the same for PAL consoles and if my boyfriend could use one of his, or if they are different, since they have different voltage over there. Can anyone tell me? |

Good going Sakura, if you really need to play the NTSC NES you have to get an NTSC power supply. Then a converter for the power, it's about 15-20 euro tops for a good one. ;)

Title: Re: NTSC Power Glove on PAL console? Post by Sakura on 21. Nov 2006 at 19:09
Hm, the seller wrote me again, she said I most likely could use a PAL power supply, since the output would be 9VAC and it should be the same on a PAL NES. Can someone check that for me?
I will have her send the power supply, if I have to, but it would be bad if the shipping costs get even more expensive. :( I didn't knew about that as I bought it. |

I'd play it safe and get the extra power supply. The couple bucks spent now would save needless searching later if the PAL power supply is incompatable.

Your right. And its only 10€ more. I feared it might be a lot more than that. You can never know with international shipping.
