Title: Does this make me bad?
Post by TheFinalDayComes on 18. Nov 2006 at 04:07
I bought the PS2 game Mortal Kombat: Armageddon Premium Edition then I took it to a friends house and played it at night. The next morning I turned the playstation on and the game wasn't working so I just packed it in my bag then moved to NJ. I left the game in the playstaion and when I turned it on again it still wasn't working. I took the game out and the CD was cracked. I don't know if it happened at my friends or when I moved, I never banged my bag around, I was very gentle with it. I just took the game back at wal-mart where I got it and said the game was broke when I opened it and they just gave me another one. Was this bad of me. I mean come on, Wal-mart is so rich so who cares they lost a microscopic bit of money. I just didn't want to me out $50. I don't think it was too bad of me to do. :-/

I think we have all done something like this, I know I have.  It happens man, don't worry about it.

Probably wasn't right, but who cares?  Wal-Mart is evil.  If it were a little mom and pop store then it would be different.

Yeah I didn't think it was too bad either. Coinheaven your right they make so much money and pay their employees squat, I worked for them for a couple weeks once. I feel better about it ;D

No offense TheFinalDayComes and coinheaven, but you can't make the excuse "they make so much money and pay their employees squat" excuse.  Did I think you did something wrong?  No, not really.  Companies like Walmart are given extra copies of games for just this reason.

Don't forget....Walmart started as a small Ma and Pa store.  They are a corporation, just like McDonalds, and heaven forbid.....Nintendo...

Don't hate just cause they know how to make money.  If people are willing to work for $6 an hour, why would they pay more?  If you could do it, you'd do the same damn thing, and don't say you wouldn't.

TheFinalDayComes....you didn't do anything that anyone else wouldn't have done.  Don't sweat it.

Arent there cases where the CDs have cracked while playing? Or maybe its just with Xbox.. You mention that the game didnt work next morning, any idea why? And if the game was inside the Playstation while u move it its "impossible" that it can crack. Seems like you bought a bad copy and of coure your entitled to a new copy then. Dont feel bad about it :)

I understand what your saying Mezmoron and you are right.

jajaja I never heard of that before. I never did open up the playsation to check why it wasn't working so maybe it did break while it was inside. I geuss I'll never know but I would like to think that happened.  Like I said I was gentle with my bag, I take care of everything I own. so I geuss it must have broken while playing. good to know that thanks :)

People don't want to work for $6 an hour at Wal-Mart...but that corporation "knows how" to quashing any attempt by their employees to organize or unionize to fight low pay. That corporation "knows how" to spend a fraction of its billions of dollars fighting low-earning employees in court. That corporation "knows how" to distribute millions of dollars among lawmakers to keep lawmakers from raising the minimum wage or penalizing that corporation for its violations of basic human decency. Yes, indeed...that corporation knows how to make money.

I've heard of it before, but only on Xbox what i remember. But it means that it can happend. I cant find any pics or articles on it, but im 99,99% sure ive read about it. Im also sure that if you drop your PS2 from 20 feet the disc wont crack so it had to be a fragile disc.

I doubt Walmart loses any money from it - they just tag it & return it to the manufacturer.  I used to work at Target; someone accidentally tagged a recalled GTA: San Andreas with a yellow "sale" tag instead of the red one. ;D

yea, they will return the damaged items to the manufacturer and they will get half of what they paid for it.  i cant imagine what walmart pays for a 50 dollar game.  probably 10-20 bucks.  anyway, even though they can get away with paying their employees nothing, its still not right.  but dont get me wrong, i am not one of those people who wont shop thier because of this, i have one 45 seconds from my house, so i buy everything there...all hail walmart!!  and i was there tonight and there were people camping out for the Wii.  good for them, playstation is dumb.

Walmart actually pays about $43-$45 per game for a game that they sell for $49.92.  But when you sell 10 million games a month, the profit is still massive.

so how much do they buy games for when they are a greatest hits? That still seems kinda low, but then again not. Companys spend millions on making games now, how else they gonna make there money back and then some

I wouldn't worry about it either, although you shouldn't make a habit out of it. ;)

nope no habit at all. I don't even have the funds for it right now. the  past 3 weeks I only bought a case of bear for $10,  I'm saving for an apartment and a car.
