Title: Stack-Up NES factory sealed or no?
Post by bujujmu on 08. Dec 2006 at 02:25
Just bought a copy a Stack-Up for the NES.  In the original box w shrinkwrap.  Just wondering if this is actually a factory seal or a reseal.   Tough to tell by looking at it but here are some noticeables.  Game has a small black sticker over the top front that says "Nintendo" and seals the top from the front.  No horizontal seal on back, I know this is common on most NES games, but is it the case for all of them?   Lastly, has push out hang tag intact on back, doesnt look like it's ever been punched out, but theres a small piece of tape over it.

Again a few of these things point to an opened and resealed game, but being this old I just don't know how thing were first done back in 1985...  Thanks for any and all help

Do you have any pictures? it would be easier to tell. But from what you said, it sounds like it could be a reseal.

I'll have pics tomorrow..   The only thing I've heard (from 1 internet source) is that this small circular black seal with "Nintendo" written on it was put on the original batch of NES games BEFORE they started to shrinkwrap them as a security device... If thats true then I'd be out of luck.  But who knows, seems like everyone has a different opinion on this topic..  What I NEED is the game guy from 85...  :)     I'll try and have some pics tomorrow

Yea. Someone could def tell you on here with pics. I have no knowledge of sealed games and resealed ones. That's just my guess.

I hope for you that it's not a resale. Good luck!

If it has the black sticker then it's probably a legitimate seal and hasn't been opened.  However if it ALSO has shrinkwrap on it then the shrinkwrap is new.  Old NES games either were shrinkwrapped or sealed with the circular sticker.  Seems like you have a legit seal but the shrinkwrap isn't legit.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I am pretty certain.

I think burnambill is 100% correct.  If that black seal isn't broken it is a legit seal with fake shrink wrap.  If the black seal is broken then the game is not sealed.

Thanks a lot for the help guys... It does appear the circular black nintendo seal has never been broken, of course I guess there's always that possibility that someone managed to slowly peal it away to open in and then glued it back on with some percision but right now to me eye it looks good.. again when I get my camera back later this afternoon I'll have a picture up... Thanks again all!

No.  Not with stack up.   Don't ask me why but 100% legit copies exist that are dual-sealed with both sticker and wrap.   I've seen a few like this.   If you show me pics I can have better comment.

No horizontal seam is as expected with this game.  Its an odd size box so it probably didn't fit in their standard wrapping machines.

The game should be sealed on three sides and with a different type of plastic than regular nes games.   I don't know how to explain it other than I know the plastic when its in front of me.

If I had to guess without seeing pics I'd say the game is probably legit.

PS - they also exist sealed with only wrap and no sticker.  That's the more common variant.

Buju you can email me at marescad@telus.net if you want to discuss further.
