DragonQuest 9 is being developed for the DS, not the PS2 or PS3.

Considering that DragonQuest is THE Japanese game franchise (the country practically stops functioning on the release day of any of the main DQ titles -- the gov't even asked release days to be on the weekend so that it has less of an impact!), Sony has been delt a huge blow.  :o

Wonder why for DS and not the Wii?

D.Q was never Sony exlusive was it? Wasnt there a D.Q game just released for the DS, or maybe that was Dragon Warrior? Anyway, does it say that the serie will be on DS from now on? I can only see that they are talking about D.Q IX, not the upcomming games like D.Q X, XI and so on.

There are fanboys of Sony and Microsoft as well who bash the competitor companies every chance they get.  Don't forget, you're currently on a forum for people who enjoy playing and collecting the original Nintendo...it's all very silly but it's bound to happen.

I know, but i dont see the same hate for 360 and Wii as i do for PS3 and Sony. Its just too much of it :( I see it enough on the other forums im on, i was hoping to avoid it here atleast.

I never had anything against Sony myself. I dislike Microsoft the most and wish they would get of making consoles.

Ps3 is just too much to pay for just one good game in Resistance. Once they go down in price I will get one.

Nintendo will always be my fav because the NES was my first system.

I really do NOT like Sony's gaming division right now.  This goes for PS3 and PSP.  X360 and Wii are both great consoles.  If I was a 3rd party developer, I wouldn't want to develop for Sony either.  It's all a business.  Which console will be able to sell the most copies of your game?

True that, its all about the money. This is actually a billion dollar industry.

I dont mind that people dont like Sony or Nintendo or MS, but its all about the way its being said. If you keep it clean and valid i dont mind at all, but when its said in a "Sony sux and they are crappity smacked because of the PS3, they will fail OMG!" tone its getting so annoying and im getting really tired of that :(

I like both PS3, 360 and Wii. They all got its own thing, altho PS3 and 360 is more alike, but still. And yes, NES is my favorite console of course! :)

Sorry that you took my post as hating on Sony. Your interpretation of the news is correct: "SE is angry at Sony and doesn't want to support them".

If I were truly hating on Sony, my post would have been something like:

"SquareEnix ditching Sony! Sony's gonna die!!! PS3 sucks, PSP sucks, DS roxors!"

But you see, I didn't say that. I'm not here to flamewar or fanboy-hate.

All I said was that SquareEnix chose to publish the Japanese national obsession on the DS and not a Sony platform. This is a massive blow to Sony and huge news. Square is telling Sony to get their collective shit together before they trust DQ with them. To me, that sounds like SE giving Sony the finger with a "we're nervous about supporting you in your current state". SquareEnix did the exact same thing to Nintendo in the mid 90s.

I understand your frustration at the flamewars and fangasms. I pisses me off too, for the same reasons. But please keep an open mind and objective perspective when reading what other say. Not everyone who has an opinion on a matter is simply fanboying or trolling for a flamewar.
