Title: What Is Wrong With People?/Ebay?
Post by Jedi QuestMaster on 23. Dec 2006 at 01:17
I'm trying to get ahold of the Star Fox Super Weekend Competition cartridge.  I saw that someone just put one up & said that offers will be accepted.  I said I was willing to pay $150.  Then, in great satisfaction, I get this message:

Sold!,er yeah ill take $150 for it

But I also have another message:

sorry i know i told you yes but i received a higher offer and the buyer paid right away

What the hell? Like I wasn't willing to pay more - $250 actually.

Edit: I tried contacting the seller & received this bullshit from Ebay:

Attention!

We have determined you are trying to contact an eBay member with whom you are not currently involved in an open transaction. For the protection of the eBay community, we sometimes block these types of communication. To prevent this occurrence from happening in the future, we recommend the following:

   *

If you are a seller, respond to all bidder questions before the auction ends.

   *

If you are trying to contact the seller of an item that has not yet ended go to the item page and click the “Ask seller a question” link.

   *

If you are the winning buyer of an item go to your My eBay page under the items I’ve Won section.  Click the action drop down menu and choose the “contact seller” action.

   *

If you are a seller trying to contact your wining buyer, go to My eBay and under the Items I’ve Sold section, click the action drop down menu.  Choose the “contact buyer” action.

   *

Reply to seller/bidder through personal email provider (if the sender has not hidden their email address).

Thank you for your understanding.

Protection from what, selling off Ebay - like what just happened?

I got that message once, I was trying to contact someone who was getting scammed off an auction where the seller was selling an empty Wii box (very sneaky) so I guess they wound up buying it for 100$

eBay pisses me off so incredibly much with crap like that.  It's all "for your protection" and for the protection of "the eBay community".  eBay doesn't get a Final Value Fee for deals that take place around eBay........which is the TRUE reason why eBay has this policy.

It's like the "safe payment methods" policy, which blocks Google Checkout.  If anything, Google is safer than PayPal.  But eBay still insists that Google Checkout is "not safe".  Of course the true reason is that eBay has this policy is because they fear that Google Checkout could give PayPal legitimate competition.

eBay has tons of bullshit policies like this.  They say their "for your protection" but really its so eBay can make more money.

So you can't contact the seller AT ALL?  You don't have an alternate eBay username you could try?  What about a friend who could do it for you?  I'd do it for you if you wanted me to...I'm sure several people here would.

I contacted the seller by going to the profile & clicking "Contact Seller." I understand I can only do this so many though, right?

It only blocks me from contacting the seller regarding the item.
