When exactly do you input this code, at the title screen or right before the first level starts?  Do I hold down B after I press it four times?  I followed the instructions after I beat it through on regular mode, put in the code but it doesn't seem any different to me.

Press Start once on title screen, then press B, B, B, B then hold Left+Up and press Start again to start new level in Hard Mode. In Hard Mode all enemies two times faster.

Hmmm, you know what, I guess it worked.  I just realized I didn't notice the difference because I had just played the last level, where everything is already fast, so the first level didn't seem that different.

I'm glad to see other people like this games too -- It was always one of those games that I felt almost embarassed to like LOL. I'm gonna have to try and beat  it on hard mode now (yeah right).

I'm pretty sure I got the code to work.  I had a save state in Hard Mode and one in Regular Mode and it definitely seemed faster in Hard Mode.  Is there anything that tells you for sure if it is hard mode?

Anyway, I played through the game and got the same exact ending, with the monsters giving you the Hard Mode code for the ending.

If anyone is familiar with FCE Ultra's cheat mode, try these:

008B - I set this at 14.  It freezes the timer.
00E0 - Infinite Lives.  Set this at anything higher than 0.  Lives count down but then they go to symbols instead of 0.
003A - Set this value at 5.  Found this code by accident.  Makes the game super easy.  No enemies, no pits, nothing.  Just fight the bosses and plow through the game.

If anyone knows how to definitely tell you are in Hard Mode, let me know.  I don't want to fight all those bosses again without knowing for sure it is Hard Mode.  It seemed to be, as the enemies in the first stage were moving faster than normal.

Nothing, just $00E4 value is 02 instead 01 in normal mode. This is just speed increment value.

Thanks man.  You got some cool stuff on your page CaH4e3, especially those password generators...you make those yourself??

One of these days I want to find the hex address that controls what quest you are on in Mystery Quest.  You have to beat the game 4 times to get the proper ending and nothing really changes each time you play through.  I am guessing you would probably have to play through the game all 4 times and do an increasing value search each time through to isolate the address that determines the quest you are on.  A lot of work, but it would be a cool thing to find.

Ok I'm playing this game now.  How the hell are you supposed to jump ON the poles in Level 6?  I can't do it!  I've been trying for like 15 minutes now!  I even looked up a guide at GameFAQs.  Are you supposed to jump ontop of the poles to get across the gigantic pit?  HELP!

Yep! :)

That level is a bitch to finish, but once you get the hang of it (lol, after playing it for a few *hours*), it's not so bad.
