...you're playing a game that's based off a cartoon or show & it's going on at the same time?

I remember getting Dragon Power (already knowing it was based off Dragon Ball) & Toonami was showing the original Dragon Ball series.

At one point I was actually at the same point in the game as the show was - after the part with that gang & the rabbit that touched things & turned them into carrots. I beat that boss & then turned it off at the next stage because the show was just going to start. ;D

But after the episode where Oolong makes the wish for the most comfortable panties in the world & Goku turns into a monster, we started losing our good cable. :(

Come to think of it - that was the last time we had Cartoon Network. :-/

Hmm..that may have happened when I was 5 or 6, but how would I remember?  ;D
