Title: Stack-Up
Post by Jedi QuestMaster on 09. Feb 2007 at 06:56
I just received this from DKOldies:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=190077379389&rd=1&rd=1

Now I noticed there wasn't a pic provided in the description anywhere, but it states "Great condition!!!"

Right now, I'm looking at the cartridge... &, to me, it isn't in great condition. Infact, I wouldn't even say it's in good condition; I would probably let 'decent condition' slide: the front label has minor tears in several places; the cartridge is scratched up, dusty, & contains residue; the back label is scratched out a little bit with red marker over the word 'CAUTION', the letters "MS" is written in red on the back, & several other details that say 'abused' .

I tried out the game & it works; but it took a few tries, which says something, because I recently refurbished my NES, & everything usually works on the first time almost flawlessly.

Now I've dealt with DKOldies before & know to take his word with a grain of salt, but 'great' ?

On the plus side, I didn't pay too much; I'm surprised no one else bid.  DKOldies overcharges on shipping & I expected someone to overlook that.

I don't know, what do you guys think? $16 for a Stack-Up in mediocre condition?

You got a fair deal, but you definitely didn't get the item that was described you would recieve.  I think this is fairly common with the big name cartridge resellers.  Since they only use stock photos you can't see the actual cart you're getting.  If I were you I'd complain to the seller and see where that gets you.

A while back I bought about 10 games from discountgames.  3 of them were not in the condition they were described.  One of them didn't have any label at all on it.  So I complained, and eventually recieved a full refund for those 3 games AND got to keep them.  I was glad at the outcome but I still wont buy again from a massive reseller anymore due to this.

^^ in my situation above the seller already left me positive feedback so they were at my mercy to avoid a couple negatives.

Send DKOldies an email and explain the situation to him.  He has several people who work for him and some of them don't know what they are doing.  He is a pretty nice guy actually, he joined NESforums not to long ago and we have several pleasant conversations.  I am sure he will be willing to work it out and issue a refund or send a replacement game.

I actually added Discountgames to my favorite sellers list. He's the only one on that list.

As for the feedback, I notice that many sellers don't give feedback until you give them feedback. I assume that's so they can neg you back or something. :P

I'll let DK know & see what happens.

Okay, what DKOldies wants me to do is ship it back & they'll replace it, :-? but I doubt they have another one.

Be careful with shipping items back. I once bought a Limited Editioni Zelda gamecube game. auction stated it was mint and all. I got the game, but it was in a small jewel case and the game didn't work. He told me to send it back and I did. NEVER HEARD FROM HIM AGAIN. I got screwed out of all my money plus the extra shipping costs.

But then again I dought DK Oldies would be like that, that have a reputition to keep.

yea im going through the whole ship it back and he will replace it thing with dkoldies right now. i bought what was suppose to be a great condition black challenge of the dragon from him. and he sent me a blue copy that had stickers all over it. that was the end of last year and im still trying to work the whole thing out with. he said he would replace it but i dont think hes going to just have extra black copies laying around.

Screw that - I'd rather just buy another one for the same price.  I replied 3 days ago & have yet to receive any reply...

that's the worst.  I bought two reseals from some mofo in ohio and after bugging him about it for months all I ever got back was half, and now he's no longer at that phone #.  Still out $200 on it.  Shitty sellers are just not worth the aggravation even if their prices are cheap. :(
