It's a pirate. A NES copy was TRYING to be sold on ebay a while back for an INSANE amount. I don't think there are too many copies of this particular pirate floating around. I may be wrong on that though.

Yep, its for Famicom only. No NES games have this mapper. The copy that was trying to be sold on Ebay (was more of a show off tho, i know the seller, he didnt intend to sell it hence the insane high price) got a 60 - 72 pin converter inside, 99,99% sure of it.

Thanks jajaja. So I suppose since it uses Mapper 90, that means it's pretty much impossible to have it reproduced? Is the physical 60-pin pirate cartridge hard to find?
I would love to own somehow own a copy of this in 72-pin NTSC format. |

No problem :) What i know there are about 4 FC games that uses this mapper. If you get a hold of one of these i cant imagine it would too hard to make a reproduction. Then, just use one of those 60-72pin converters that was in i.e Gyromite :)

Ok jajaja, do you by any chance know the names of the FC games that use mapper 90? I am going to search for them, and get this SMW written onto a cart.

Unfortunatly not :\ But i think one of the games were a tank game where you drove around in a labyrinth and shot other tanks, sorta like Bomberman, same view atleast. When u got hit you would loose the tank and you would control a man instead. MarioMania wrote on 15. Mar 2007 at 02:39:
Pretty sure its MMC3. |

If you google "mapper 90" it shows info from Kevin Hortons site.
On it he lists some Mapper 90 games: Tekken 2 MK 3 Special 56 Peoples Aladdin pirate He also shows pictures of the boards which are "glob tops" which means you cant just de-solder some chips and put new ones on. You just need to get the Super Mario World Famicom pirate and an internal 60-to-72 pin adapter if you want a cart that "looks" like a Super Mario World NES cart. Al |

All mapper90 games was produced by some company, called "JY Conpany". All these carts have unique ID code like JY-xxx. Some of JY carts not mapper 90 games, but all mapper 90 games are JY. ;) Earlier versions of 90 mapper now assigned as 91 mapper and used in some old pirate games like early "Mortal Kombat II" pirate version and "Dragon Ball Z - Super Butouden 2".
Here short list of known JY games: "45-in-1 (JY-120A)" - contain full version "Super Mario World", "Popeye 2 - Travels in Persia" "Aladdin - Return of Jaffar, The" - conversion to mapper 90 of "Lord of King, The" "Aladdin" - well known SNES port of "Aladdin" "China Rabbit Baby" - clone of "Mickey Mania 7" "Donkey Kong Country 4" - SNES port "Final Fight 3" - SNES(?) port "Mickey Mania 7" - SNES port "Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!" - conversion to mapper 90 "Mortal Kombat 2" - MK1-MK2 port "Mortal Kombat II Special" "Mortal Kombat III Special" "Mortal Kombat 3 - Special 56 Peoples" - variations of MK2-MK3 port "Popeye 2 - Travels in Persia" - clone of "Aladdin" "Power Rangers III" - fighting game "Power Rangers IV" - beat-em-up game "Shin Samurai Spirits 2 - Haoumaru Jigoku Hen" - fighting port "Super Contra 3" - SNES port of "Contra Spirits" "Super Mario World" - single game version, only 4 levels "Tekken 2" - fighting port "Tiny Toon Adentures 6" - "TinyToon Adventures" total conversion, GB port Most of JY games have easter eggs inside, like wheird splash screen with some kind of "logo". Look for "JY Easter egg" here: http://cah4e3.shedevr.org.ru/cheatsbase.php Also it is known "King of Fighters 96, The" 768Kb version by "Hummer team" is JY too, reproduced to MMC3 alike board, but contain the same easter inside. And I'm pretty sure "Street Fighter Zero 2 '97" is Jy too, because it developed by the same "Hummer Team", but haven't easter inside and uses the same as "KOF96" MMC3 board. I need labels for these carts with JY code to proof it. More info here: http://cah4e3.shedevr.org.ru/cartsbase.php Enjoy. ;) |
