Title: 10 best video game glitches? Post by burnambill333 on 01. Apr 2007 at 04:46
I am trying to compile a list of the 10 coolest, most awesome, most well known glitches in video games ever, and I am asking for your help making this list. I want the list to be broad, and include all consoles, from Atari to Xbox.
Two glitches that will definitely make the list are the Negative World glitch in SMB and the Missingno glitch in Pokemon Red/Blue. There are a few other popular glitches that I can think of, such as some in Sonic and DKC, though I don't know if they deserve to be in the top 10. Please note: I am NOT looking for any form of glitch that requires any form of cheat device or "cartridge tilting" in order to get it to work. If you know of any cool/popular glitches that stick out in your head, please post them here so I can look into them! My goal is to make a 22 minute video exploiting each glitch, that will count down from #10 to #1, and will be turned in for a school project, and also used as a portfolio piece! Thank you! |

Make sure to put the video on youtube, too. ;)
Hmm...the many glitches of SMB USA (Super Mario Bros. 2 in the U.S.)? |

There's one in Rampage I discovered when I was a kid, not sure if it fits as "coolest glitch ever" or anything, but if you just eat people and nothing else, don't destroy the buildings (you can destroy some, but DO NOT destroy them all), you will warp to the next level with the city still intact. Sometimes it takes longer than others, but it works on every level that I've tried it on (I went to around Day 50 or so before I got bored). It also buggers up Player 1's score, and it sometimes makes funky shit happen (I once climbed through the sky, went off the screen, and climbed back up through the ground). Try it out and see what you think :)

That Excitebike glitch was awesome. I will try that later tonight.

There are some glitches in Metroid, were you can discover empty rooms (something witht the door entry). I guess you have that one on ther list already. There's also some in Zeld II, i read it long time ago somewhere on the net.

I don't really know what you're going for, the most known glitches or the most entertaining? Another pokemon glitch was in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, after a year had passed, your save data would be erased. Nintendo wound up making a few different discs for the GC with a patch on it to correct the problem. If anyone called in about the problem, they were sent to their nearest service center. Also, in store kiosks were set up with the patch although most didn't give customers access to a gamecube link cable. To top it off, if you preordered whatever that GC Pokemon game was, you were given a bonus disc with the patch on it.

Widar, that's some interesting info! I am looking for the most entertaining glitches, but I want them to be for mostly popular games (that's what people want to see).
My problem is that I can compile a pretty good list myself for Nintendo games, but outside of Nintendo I really am quite clueless. I want the video to be universal and appeal to gamers of all different areas. I want to cover Sega, Sony, and Microsoft consoles too. I also ONLY want glitches for more popular games, because that's what people want to see. I'm not going to cover any glitches for stupid games no matter how cool the glitch may be. I found a pretty cool glitch in Halo (called the Super Bounce glitch), which I am going to use, and I think I'm going to talk about the Easter Egg in Adventure (not really a glitch, but cool nonetheless), but other than that everything I have is for a Nintendo game. I think the Excitebike glitch is going to make the list. That information about Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire has a good chance of making it too. I didn't know about either of those! When (if) I make this video it's going to be awesome, but will be finished at the end of summer if ever. -Nick |

There's a glitch in DKC1 where you skip over half the game. There's a video somewhere for it. Allows you to beat the game in like 20 minutes.
Also, you should ask Roth if he knows any. He seems to know about a ton of different glitches and things like that for NES games. |

I was going to mention that superbounce glitch in Halo. Everyone who plays that game knows about that one.

It doesn't have anything to do with riding up that cliff on a Ghost on Blood Gulch does it? |

No, it has nothing to do with a vehicle, and it can be done on a majority of the maps (if not all.) You just crouch-walk into a corner for an allotted period of time and then jump off a cliff to a designated spot and you get super-bounced. Then you can land on a tall ledge where no one can touch you. I of course am horrible at explaining it, but I am pretty sure if you search on youtube for Halo Superbounce, you'll see what I am talking about. |

Wow...that's really awesome. I just tried it and it worked! Do you know if it works on any other ladders in the game? |

I love that Donkey Kong one. So easy to pull off too but I never knew about it.
