Title: FDS Troubleshooting. Post by mewithoutYou52 on 17. Apr 2007 at 08:04
Finally got my FDS in the mail today. The same day I got my Fami converter so I can use the FDS on an American system.
Tried with my Yobo and it didn't work (see previous post) but finally got the game to load on my toaster. It was a beautiful thing to witness. Anyway, for some reason my controllers aren't working. The game loads (Zelda) and it goes through the intro screen and scrolls all the items in the game, but hitting start nor any other button will do anything. I swapped out the FDS rom with a regular cart and the controller works, so I'm thinking something is wrong. Anyone have any ideas? |

I didn't think it was possible to use the FDS on a converted NES. Maybe that's the problem. Don't know for sure. I've never tried...I just use my Famicom.

That could be the problem then. :) Thank you.
Maybe I'll have more luck on a Famiclone. |

Controllers should work fine on a NES. Have you tried changing the side of the disk from side A to side B? Do that when the all the title screens are done...

I haven't tried that. I'll give it a go when I get home from work.

That was the problem. I had no idea you were supposed to flip the disk over. Must have gotten lost in translation somewhere.
Thank you so much for your help. This is so much fun!! |

No problem. In most games you get a black screen with a lot of japaneese symbols and either a letter A or letter B for side A/B. Then it's easier to guess that it's time to change side. I don't think that's the case with Zelda, so it's not obvious that you need to change the side of the disk. Hope you'll have lots of fun with your FDS now!
