Title: Oh dear..... Post by mikeroach113 on 29. Apr 2007 at 19:47
Okay, so I bought some pirated Famiclone today, and it came with a multi-cart. I know the way the cartridge went it, but the sides of the cartridge were round, and I thought I'd try it on one of my normal NES models, and I couldn't get it working, so I tried putting it facing the reverse side on the converter, and I'm worried now, because when I went to play it again on the Famiclone it came with, I usually get just a green screen, and I'm worried I destroyed the cartridge. I hope I am wrong.

It's nearly impossible to ruin a cartridge, so I hear. If it's a lightweight cart, it's likely a glob-top, and they sometimes only work on original Famicoms. Also, sometimes the pins on the cart don't match up properly with the pins on the console. Make sure they do. If neither of those make it work, then it's probably DOA.

This is the multi-cart that came with it:
Can somebody identify this and tell me where to get a REPLACEMENT? I looked forward to enjoying this first multi-cart of mine too, and all I did was put the cart on the converter with the label-side facing the wrong way, and now even when I try it on the Famiclone I got, I usually just get a green screen. DAMMIT! I didn't pay $25 dollars for just another Famicom clone! Oh, and I forgot to mention, the one I tried out at the place I got it, the sound emulation was dead on, but the model I got, it sounds just like the other Famiclone I have. DAMMIT! I'm so ANGRY. |

I don't know anything about it, but it's certainly a cheap glob-top, which is common for newer (1994ish-now) pirates. These carts show up on eBay about once every few months.

It is a weird cart because it's so short. But it's quite clever from a profit point of view. The pirate company who makes these is saving a bunch of money on plastic. It makes sense, since the board inside most pirates are short glob-tops that don't require the same size board as pirates with big ass chips. These pirates seem to be among the most recently manufactured of all the Famicom pirates out there.
