well, this morning Blizzard announced information regarding their newest title "starcraft 2". I loved the first one, and I think everything from the trailers to unit descriptions for the upcoming release kicks ass! I cannot wait. It's been years since I've played the original one, but it was my game of choice growing up. This older kid and I would play sc afterschool every single day from about my freshmen year till about junior year (off and on by then). We were good..even rivaled some of the gosu AZN players that found their way on the western servers from korea. I think our average b.net record was about 110is-20. For awhile we were on fire...

I have high hopes for this game--
I hope Blizzard will stick to the traditional formula. Also, I bet the whole nation of South Korea would be mighty peeved if anything changed on a major scale:P

I might check it out.  I never got into the SC multiplayer.  Warcraft 3's multiplayer was more fun.

yes icurrently play starcraft broodwar and have been hoping for a release for the last 6 years. I still believe that this is the best RTS ever created.

The gameplay is  balanced like none other. I felt Warcraft 3 just didn't have the balance that wc2 or sc had and was kinda disappointed. Granted, I never got into their online play... I did play multiplayer once or twice (lan).

I just purchased the orig. game off the blizzard site once more. I've been hesitant because of no initial OSX support, but they recently created a launcher! Can't wait. Anyone feels like playing a round, please don't hesitate to pm me :)

Looking at the screenshots, it seems to have an engine and UI similar to War3's, which is nice.  It also seems to have the low HP units, which means faster deaths...  

I'll probably pick the game up and see if I can get good at it.  If anything, the campaign can be entertaining.  It took me many games to get a grasp on the War3 multiplayer, but I can do a decent job.  Starcraft was just too hard and not really worth learning to me, especially when newer games were coming out.  Plus, Starcraft crashed too often.

I guess UT2007 and Starcraft 2 will be 2 titles to look forward to.  It's been so long since I've gotten a new PC title to fiddle with.  UT2004 was my last.

yeah sc def. has a learning curve, but once you get past that stage the game is complete bliss.

I had an issue for 6 months where I didn't use the attack select command..lets just say when I used a hotkey it made my life a tad easier.

I was heavily addicted to Warcraft II and StarCraft back in the day.  A sequel to StarCraft is going to be awesome.  One of the best Real Time Strategy games ever!

Well, I'll buy the game.  I took the time to learn War3, so hopefully this one will be good.

I learned War3 because playing ladder games was made especially easy whereas Starcraft didn't seem as such.  Though I only played a few LAN games of SC anyway...  If they use a ladder system like War3's, then it'll really be interesting.  Players could find games pretty fast.  It's not quite as easy today due to the decline in players, but back in '03 it was very competitive...
