I remember playing a game when i was a kid. ive been trying to think of the name of this game forever.

it was a fighter type game.

I remember the battle sequences were unique in that there would be red stars, or markers on the upper body, mid section and lower body. You could block where the enemy was attacking you, and you in turn could attack these same places.

If i remember correctly it was a tournament type but also had some rpg elements to it i think.

im stumped.

Flying Dragon.  The platform levels are shit, but the fighting segments are grand.  You may also be thinking of the sequel.

there was also another one, maybe you know it, i think it was knights and magic or something.

one of the levels your jumping through tree's i believe,

and you go through stages similar to that as you did in ghost and goblins...
