First let me start of by saying I love the NES and it's games and I have 200+ games for it.  Also let me say that probably my favorite game of all-time is the Mega Man 2...Now with that said...

I don't like Kid Icarus.  It's actually a hard thing for me to admit because of how everybody praises it and me being a NES fanatic, I should like it, but I don't.  To me it just feels like a lack-luster, watered-down platformer and like I said above I love Mega Man 2, so it's not as though I don't like platformers...

One thing I really hate is the fact that you have no extra lives.  I don't mind having to start from the beginning of the level when you die because well that's how many NES games are, but most games at least give you a life or two before doing so...  Also the bow and arrow idea is cool, but at least give me a little range on the thing...

Anyone else not like this game??

What are some popular NES games that are praised, but you just flat out don't like them....

I may take a real pounding for this, but... Here it goes...  I really don't like Metal Gear.  I really dig all the Metal Gear Solid games.   As for the first one, not so much.  Go ahead.  Start the beating.

I don't really like Spy Hunter, the first Bomberman, Adventure Island, A Boy and His Blob, Shadowgate, or PacMan.

I never played Spy Hunter in the arcade, so it may have been better there, but I never really got the point of the NES version.

I thought bomberman was sort of dull as well, though I think I liked it better than Spy Hunter.

I never understood the appeal of Adventure Island.  That game just gets on my nerves.  If someone cares to explain it to me I would be interested.

I sort of had fun with A Boy and His Blob, but the game was way too short.  It took me several tries to beat it, but when I did it probably only took about seven minutes.

A lot of people seem to love Shadowgate, but I thought that the puzzles in it were pretty lame, and a lot of them were rather nonsensical.  I liked Maniac Mansion much better.

I've never really enjoyed any pacman port very much.  This is sort of odd though, because I recall enjoying the knock-off version Munch Man on my TI-99/4a.


I hated Metal Gear when I first played it, but once I figured out how to make it through the forest to the first base I thought it was awesome.

I'm not that fond of the Metal Gear games but most ppl are though. Guess i just don't have the patience for it.

Thanks Martin, yeah i had some rough times with my sis but all is stabile atm. Glad to have some spare time again.

Never was a fan of Metroid, I thought it got really tedious after awhile. I also never got into River City Ransom.

Anyways, i second Kid Icarus and Metal Gear.  They're not bad games but they were far from great.

Because i suck at it...and that pretty much spoils the fun. ::)

I never got very into Mario 2 - it's really hard.

Adventure Island always baffled me because it seemed like it was too easy to die.

i never really got into castlevania 3.  i played the hell out of castlevania 1 and 2 though.

I hate SMB2 ! This game is so strange ...

I will get ripped up for this, but I've never liked any of the Super Mario Bros. Not even 3. Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate that they're staples of gaming and great games...but their just not my cup of tea.

I hate RPG games like Dragon Warriors 2-4 and Final Fantasy.  I think they are super boring.

I don't like the gameplay of SMB2 either, though for sheer novelty value it is kinda fun.

Same with Adventure of Link.  Just too different from the series to suit me.

Also can't stand Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom.*  ROM it up if you don't know what I'm talking about.  Horrible.

I have to admit I dont really think there were any popular games I didn't like. Well...I didn't like Castlevania 2. Is Dig Dug II popular? oh and Rampage I think is fun for like 5 minutes then EXTREAMLY BORING.

I don't particularily like the early Castlevania games, but that could probaby be remedied by actually convincing myself to look up strategies for playing.

Metal Gear is pretty impossible to play, just for a complete lack of explanation.  It could help if I had a manual when I tried to play, but lack of the internet and having bought it from a video rental place were factors.

I think Little Nemo is a great game, but I can't stand to play it without save states.

Lastly, Dragon Warrior and clones (Final Fantasy, NES Ultima) are practically intolerable, IMO.

yeah I didn't really like Zelda 2 at all either.

SMB2 ...............

My choice would be Metroid.  I don't really know the reason, but I have just never been able to get into any of the Metroid games on any platform.

Yeah, I agree about Metroid. I LOVE Super Metroid, but the NES one is just too confusing for me. Not a fan of making your own map. :-/

The first Dragon Warrior (probably the second too).  It's an incredibly poor RPG and very basic, I'm quite surprised it was as popular as it was (I can remember people talking about it in school all the time like it was so awesome).  This led to actually good RPGs like Pool of Radiance falling to the side.

I'm not a huge fan of the Capcom Disney games. They're too easy and/or have terrible controls (like TaleSpin).

I'll also second not being overly fond of River City Ransom, although I do like some of the music and humor in the game.

Don't like Gauntlet much either.

i can get so pissed off at adventure island because its (as said before) too easy to die :(

Legend of Zelda...I just don't like these kinds of games.

For me, popular games I dont like are the Dragon Warrior games, Final Fantasy (although I love the remake for PSX), Metal gear games, and Metroid.

Basically I think all RPGs for NES suck ass, Dont get me wrong im a huge NES Fan!

SMB3 - This game just seemed way too wussy after SMB1.  If you have infinite continues, you have to make the game a little challenging!

I'll second Metroid and Metal Gear too.
