Title: Does it matter where I buy 72 pin connector? Post by Stuttering Sam on 04. Sep 2008 at 22:40
Also, are there different brands? I ordered mine from a place in North Carolina called Guaranteed Games. Also, what's the process of changing it? What else do I do besides unscrewing the NES and just switching the pin connector?

I bought mine on ebay from a powerseller in Amsterdam.
Damn good things! In fact, I still have 1 nes with a faulty connector wich i;m gonna replace. I believe it was an ebay shop called the powerstore. |

Did you really have to purchase it from somewhere all the way in Amsterdam? Anyway, so is there a specific way to change it besides removing the connector and putting the new one in? I'm assuming there's something to do with cleaning the connectors on the NES circuit board before putting it on, but how do I clean it?

Well, since I live in Holland....Amsterdam isn't that far away.
And it's an E-bay store. There are new connectors for purchase on ebay.com which are offered from USA, so you should do fine. |

You dont really need to do anything else. What goes bad in the NES connector are the little 72 pins which you are replacing. Not where it connects to the mainboard. Although you can always clean that up as well.
Some people use this opportunity to disable the lockout chip at the same time, since they already have the system apart. Edit- one more thing. You can buy connectors from www.estarland.com if you want. I think its a lot cheaper if you buy a few though. Al |

There are quite a number of different aftermarket ones that are sold and they're all pretty much the same thing. If you don't like how the one you bought feels/works, I sell brand new ones that came directly from Nintendo...my price is probably a bit more than the aftermarket ones, but it's better quality.
