I'm thinking about getting the FDS to go with my Famicom, but I've been downloading ROMs of Disk System games, and I haven't found any that have impressed me. The only one I've found so far that's remotely appealing is the Patlabor game, which isn't one of the best platformers out there, but is still pretty decent.

Other than Bubble Bobble, SMB2j and Doki Doki Panic...eh, I hate the FDS.

If you like Adventures of Lolo, there are some FDS exclusives under the title of Eggerland (The series name in Japan).

It's an amateur Metroid crossed with elements of King Kong 2. You're this little caveman in a cave of monsters and in fits of fright, it seems, cling and climb walls and toss hammers. I haven't figured out the goal exactly, other than kill enemies. It's tough -- hence, I haven't gotten to an end.

Although the gameplay is a bit awkward I'll second Arumana no Kiseki (or Almana's Miracle or whatever).

That, Falsion (3rd person "3-d" space shooter), and Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa (action platformer playing as a baby) have the three best soundtracks I've heard so far that consistently use the extra wavetable synthesis in all or most tracks. May be worth checking out for the distinctness in music at least.
