Title: Another Disk System question. Post by Stuttering Sam on 27. Sep 2008 at 00:43
I was reading about the Disk System on this website, and I saw this passage:
Quote:
Can the game data, I mean the whole game get erased off the disk too from any of these problems? Like can the game break or get destroyed? Now I'm afraid to get the Disk System and try out the copy of The Dirty Pair I just bought for it when I do get a Disk System. |

I hate the FDS. It's unreliable, with its belt wearing out and other errors happening. With that said, I own several FDS's and many disks -- though I hardly play them. And yes, a disk can demagnetize and become useless, unless you know how to write the game back onto the disk or know someone who can do it for you.

I doubt the entire game data can be erased by one of these errors. But if the header data gets corrupted the disk is useless

All of this doom & gloom about Famicom Disk System...I question how you obtained your FDS. I've owned my AV FC & FDS for over a DECADE and its still running on the same drive belt eversince ( knock on wood ). I do have to say both my AV FC & FDS were brand spanking new when I purchased them. I am considering to purchase some spare FDS replacement belts from Ebay - JUST IN CASE :)
Btw, i've never used "C" batteries on the FDS - I use an AC adapter instead. 3319953697_cf58a75a83.jpg (199 KB | 428
