Title: Twin Famicom Disk Drive Issue Post by Lorfarius on 17. Nov 2008 at 12:43
I'm quite new to the world of NES/Famicom collecting and I hate that my first post (hopefully the first of many more) here is for help with a Disc system issue :-[ I recently started a NES blog (theres a link in my sig and I try to update regular) and to make it more interesting decided to get my hands on a Twin Famicom.
It worked fine for a few days when the power convertor I had blew up :o Much scratching of my head and pestering many folks around the net I managed to get it working again with a DC Universal plug. Or so I thought..... When I insert a disc it clunks twice and then I get a Battery Err 02 message. Which means the batteries are dead. Except its a Twin Famicom so there isnt any batteries. Any ideas? I think it must be getting power to the drive as it wouldn't clunk to try and access it. Does the same no matter what game I use. However it was working just fine before the power outtage the other day and I can still play cart games without issue. |

It sounds like a bad connection...could be the wrong adaptor. You sure you're using the right power adaptor?

I think I am. Its a Universal one running at 9 volts. I had an issue a couple of weeks back where the Japanese Power convertor died on me (I'm in the UK so need a special adaptor) so the only thing I could try was a DC universal adaptor. I checked various places on the net and was told it should be safe enough.

Yeah, best thing is to make sure you're using the right adaptor. The Famicom adaptor, assuming you still have it, will give you all the info you need when switching to your new adaptor. 9V sounds fine, but amps, etc., matters, too. I don't know much about this stuff...

Thanks :) I've just ordered a new convertor from eBay so fingers crossed that will work.
