Title: NES-Bit, A new UK NES Collectors Site Post by Lorfarius on 26. Oct 2010 at 15:32
Had a word with Martin as I didn't want to come across as spamming but I'd like to mention a website of my own I've been cooking up these past few months.
I noticed awhile back that there wasn't much focus on the UK market and with focusing on a complete collection of PAL-A UKV carts I decided to use my free time to focus on something useful and this is the result: http://www.nes-bit.com/ I think I've written a good enough of starting content there's approx 50 reviews I wrote myself plus several donated articles not to mention an extensive database. So please have a wander over there and have a nosey ;D |

You know what would be cool, if you could get an interview with the codemasters founders about their unlicensed Nintendo Entertainment System adventure back in the day :-)
Would be cool to know if there were any problems becoming a licensed SNES developer since they had bothered Nintendo in the 8-bit days. |

That might be possible. I know a chap who was successful at having the Oliver twins appear at a retro event. I'll add it to the list :)

Still working on that but did manage to snag an interview with Ste Pickford from Zippo games (chap behind Wizards & Warriors 3 plus a host of other NES titles). He's currently working his way through a pile of questions I sent but I'm hoping it will make for a great article :) |

Had contact with a couple of famous folk, both of which have agreed to interviews! Can't say who at the moment but it's a real feather in my cap. Haven't done an update here for a bit so thought I'd show off something I worked on, a top 10 of the worst NES games ever released:

Happy to say I have posted my first ever interview. Had a chat with Ste Pickford of Rare and Zippo Games fame, who spent sometime talking about his time in the games industry (with a hefty bit of NES related history of course!) and his upcoming game:
http://www.nes-bit.com/?p=4328 It's my first interview so would welcome any comments :) |

;D I always aim to post at least 1 update a week but with reviews I do worry there's a limit 280 odd games. Already hit 65 in 4 months so need to take it easy :P Got some great content lined up, getting closer to completing the full set of Club Nintendo mags. |

http://www.nes-bit.com/?p=4429"]http://www.nes-bit.com/?p=4429 Next is me working my way through Nintendo's clash with the education market. Proud to say we have a major plus to the site today, a developer interview with Sivak Games. The guys behind the home brew release Battle Kid and a few tid bits on it's sequel. Also take a deeper look into what's involved in programming for the NES:

Just announced that I'm going to attempt a magazine/booklet for the site. Asking people to get involved, write an article etc so please have a look at some of the designs we have already: http://www.nes-bit.com/NesBitForum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=343 |

I've been toying with the idea of a fanzine/magazine for the site for awhile now and finally decided to do something about it!
http://www.nes-bit.com/NesBitForum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=343 Had quite a few volunteers involved and we have a good 26 pages under our belt but looking for more! |

Couple of page samples to show off what we have done so far things are really moving fast now. A lot of people have worked hard on this and it's really coming along nicely so I would rather the work speak for itself::
In case anyone is worried there's a good mix of PAL and US stuff, even mention of the GameBoy in a NES standoff. Tried to cover as much as possible for a first issue and think there's enough for all to enjoy! |

After what seems like a lifetime the mag finally goes live:
http://www.nes-bit.com/?page_id=5045 I don't think there's anything of this quality in the fanzine world so really proud of what we achieved. |

I know a few of you have been looking forward to this but Issue 2 has finally been announced:
For those thinking the text in the left column is the articles... not this time. Just easy place holders to fill the space! So far the team have started on several articles and some highlights include: Religion in NES games Castlevania (Cover) Special - A look at the NES series and some of its unique stand out points Big Dan's Cheat Section makes a return A look at some of the NES's Shooters 8bit wars - Classic systems go head to head Zelda Special Japanese Import Special And much, much more It will be available as a PDF like the last issue with some printed copies being available at a later date eventually as well. Suggestions for articles are always welcome. What can you do to help? We are open to new writers and hope even more people will get involved. So drop me a line or stop by the site. |
