Discuss this game.

Does anyone else not like this game too much? I think it's much harder than SMB2, especially considering you can't even run...

It's a nice game.
Indeed it's harder than SMB2 cause ya can't run.
But it's nice.

Does anyone here think that SMB2 is worthless because it's merely a hack of Doki Doki Panic, or are any of you of the other mind, thinking SMB2 had the "necessary" improvements to make the game worthwhile to play?

I've never played Doki Doki Panic, so I'll reserve judgment for when I do.

I know this thread is old, but I thought I'd join in.

Doki Doki Panic, for me, was interesting to see as I saw the origins of SMB2 US.  I had read about it in a magazine and about how SMB2J wasn't released here, etc. etc.

As a game, it's okay.  I think they really polished the engine with SMB2.  I wouldn't mind owning a repro. of Doki Doki to play on my NES, although that's probably not going to ever be possible to make.

It's possible to make. I know a dude who has it on a pirate cart. We've just gotta get it dumped somehow -- the dude's in Thailand. Tongue But if there's one pirate cart, there are bound to be more. I guess it's only a matter of time before there are repros for sale.

Maybe.  If it's a Thailand pirate, then it may have an obscure mapper and may not necessarily be easily reproducable.  Though it would be interesting to see this game on cartridge form.  You wouldn't have to worry about taking out and reloading discs ever.  Whoever put it into cartridge form probably had to spend a fair amount of time hacking it into NES format.
