Ok, so I know there was a release of 'STREET FIGHTER 2010: THE FINAL FIGHT', and my first question to anyone that's played it, is it any good? My second question, why was Street Fighter 2 never released on the NES? I have the SMS version, which is actually really not a badly done version at all! I know that from a graphics point of view, the sms could cope with a little more than the NES, but not significantly so, so why did nobody attempt a NES port of the game?

No, it sux lol. I cant even beat the first guy. Maybe with some practice. But the game isnt that fun imo.

SF2 for SMS is not an "official" release, it was made by Tec Toy. They made a few other games like Sonic Blast, also for SMS. These games were only released in Brazil. You do have SF2 for NES also, but they are pirates. There are many different versions too. Their not really playable imo, but its nicley made for NES. If you want a fighting game like SF2 for NES i recommend Turtles Tournament Fighters. You also have Joy Mecha Fight for Famicom. I have only tried the ROM and its pretty sweet Smiley I think it would be much better to play it on a real FC tho, better controllers that way.

LOL, it's that bad eh? Shame really! I seem to remember playing Turtles Tournament Fighters at my pals house years ago, so I might try and get hold of it!

As for Tec Toy - they are official releases - Tec Toy were licensed in Brazil in the same way Tonka were (unsuccessfully!) licensed in the US. Tec toy released most of the sms games over in Brazil that were also released previously in Europe. They also did quite a few game hacks with their own characters, and a lot of Game gear ports (sonic blast wasn't actually a tec toy deveoped game, but a port from the game gear). I think I've got around 20 - 25 Tec toy games, and actually have a couple more on their way as we speak!  Smiley I also have a Tec Toy SMS with over 100 games built in, most of which are euro games, some are Portugese games.

How did the pirate carts of sf2 look on the NES then? It'd be interesting to see a couple of screenshots! And yeah, I wouldn't mind getting a famicom, but they aint quite as easy to find over in the UK! Plus am totally skint right now, but come pay day, maybe....  Smiley

Ye i know, but they do have that pirate thing over the games imo. Like you said, sprite hacks, Game Gear ports etc. Thats why i used "official".

The SF2 pirate looks like a normal game, but light grey cart. You see its a pirate a mile away. There are probly more versions. You can just get a 60 - 72 pin connector for the FC carts if you dont want to buy a FC.

Lol, I know what you mean, don't worry. Some of their stuff is pretty shockingly unprofessionally done, which is a shame, coz there are a couple of gems!

I might take the tip on the FC, thanks for that!  Smiley

Ye, some stuff are cool Smiley Duke Nukem for Mega Drive is really well made, but its basicly not playable due to the bad controller.

I found a small pic from SF2 FC here hehe Smiley

Yeah, there is a SF2 for the Famicom -- a pirated version. I haven't gotten my hands on it and it could be tought to find. I've been looking for a while now.

And there's also Joy Mech Fight, as jajaja said, which is damn awesome. I've got it for the Famicom and it's probably one of the best fighter games I've played on both the NES or Famicom. It reminds me a lot of the quality of an early Tekken games. The fighting robots in Joy Mech each have special moves and powers that you can use by pressing certain button combinations. And the "tournament" mode is challenging! You have to pic the right fighter to battle the computer-controlled fighters.

The main robot fighter (label pic).

I just got a pirate fami multi that has that sf game on it.  It calls it street blaster 2.  Then there's also Mighty Final fight, Karnov, and some famicom game that I haven't even looked at yet.  Then I got another pirate fami that has king of fighters 1998 (another pirate fighter) with rockman 3 and contra force on it.

Yeah the fighters kinda suck, but there really are huge characters an more than you would expect for a nes game.  The backgrounds to street blaster 2 are even well animated.

Damn, you seem to have great luck with pirates! Did you expect to get SF2 or was it a surprise? I like when the label is vague and the games pictured are poor, but the games actually on the cart turn out to be awesome.

Nope, I just got a whole bunch.  I had no idea what I was getting and was pretty surprised to get as many good ones as I have!  Smiley  Yeah,

Yeah, the labels are great!  These two with fighting games are surprisingly honest, but there are quite a few with totally wrong games and other system games like MarioKart 64 and such.  Only one of my carts has the street fighter clone, but 3 or four more have street fighter on the label.

That sounds awesome! I'd love to find something like that! Yeah, I'm surprised about the background animation being good, coz that always seems to be the system downfall - so if it's good that will help make the game all the better! Bet you were happy when you never even knew you were getting it!!

I just looked back through the thread and saw the FC SF2 screenshot, and it does look pretty good! I might just have to invest a bit of time and money trying to get hold of it! Need to get a FC first though.......  Roll Eyes
