8ft Nintendo NES

I am sure that several of you have already seen this, but I thought I would post it for all those who haven't yet.  I built a 7 ft long, 3 ft wide and 3 ft high NES.  It it completely in scale to a NES and even has a working power button that makes a red light come on.  There is a progression of images on my website if you want to check it out.  I still have to find a way to get all the logos on it, plus some minor touch up painting.  Thoughts??

The blue stuff is painters tape.  I have since removed it cause I finished all the major painting.  I just have small touch up stuff left.  The ports and the air vents on the top were the hardest things to make, but I think it was well worth the trouble.

It will be used as my entertainment center and be home to all my consoles on the side of it.

I have plans to build a Controller coffee table, and maybe a ROB chair.  Dain is trying to talk me into making a giant cart to go inside the NES....I am thinking about it Grin

There are worlds out there where the sky is burning, where the sea is asleep and the rivers dream; people made of smoke and cities made of song. Somewhere there's danger, somewhere there's injustice, and somewhere else the tea is getting cold. Come on, Ace, we've got work to do.

Well I have exceded my daily bandwidth allowance on my free site Undecided I know there has been at least 300 unique users visiting my site since this time yesterday.  It was probably way more than that, cause I didn't look at the counter since early this morning.  I guess everyone will have to wait until tomorrow to see it now, lol.

That's great.  Now you just need to make the power/reset button work, and wire it up to a real NES inside. heheh

And hook that up to Frank's 2000" TV.

I actually thought about wiring up a NES to it.  I was going to make the ports be real ports and have the power/reset button to actually work.  The reason I didn't is because I figured the NES system wasn't designed to send a signal that far, and I figured that it wouldn't work properly.  However, you do push in the power button to make the red light come on, and push it again to make the light go off.

Grin funny that you mention that, I had thought about adding a time delay kill switch which would make the NES blink like that.  I decided it was to much work, and was just happy to have a power light and working button.

How far do you need it?  I think the main problem with long cables is the signal's rise and fall times, and that doesn't matter much for a low-speed signal.  Power and reset wire could be very long, the controller could be fairly long (but I'm not sure how much exactly).  Commonly available extension cables add 6 feet or so, I'm sure it could go farther than that without problems.  Could probably add buffer or a couple transcievers for really long cable length. My website is back working again also.  So please scoop it and and leave me some feedback.  I have also been featured on several gaming sites, and digg.com for this now.  I have links to all the articles on my website also.

I haven't yet, but I was wanting to wait until it was totally done with logos and all.  The better it looks, the more likely I am to make the zine.  I have someone who is making me the logos for free, so YAY!!!  I had to upgrade the site to handle all the traffic.
