This is incredible and it will mark a turning point in import gaming.
DON'T BUY ANY SONY PRODUCTS !
You hate MS and Nintendo also then, since they also sued L-S. It will also mean: do not buy any MS or Nintendo products.
I wish people could check alittle more around the case instead of just see "Sony + L-S closed = Sony sux!". One reason can be that the importers in <country A> have a contract with Sony saying that they are the only one that are allowed to import PSP stuff into <country A>. Then they see that another company, in this case L-S, that also import (well, export) PSP stuff to <country A>. Then they push Sony because they have a contract with them. What shall Sony do, ignore them? They have no choice but to try to stop the export.
How many of you bought stuff frequently from L-S? Now that L-S is closed, is it impossible for you to get the same stuff elsewhere? Play-Asia is also a very good source. This only affects PSP stuff, not PS2. If you try to order PSP stuff from P-A you will get a message saying that you cant, but with PS2 games it works fine. Im not sure if this is for Europe only or Worldwide. Someone from the US here, try to order a PSP game from P-A. You dont have to confrim the order of course, just try and see if you get any messages.
This is not a turning point in importing games. As mentioned, this only consern PSP stuff and L-S is not the
only store that carried import stuff. If you really want a PSP game from Japan there is no problem getting it. Just get a contact/friend in Japan and you're set to go.
If i try to order i.e. a GBA game from Amazon.com i get a message saying i cant. People who have played some old arcade games might remember a line that says something like "For sale in <country> only!". I also bought Rockman X8 for PC from Thailand through Ebay. When i got it i see that the CDs have
Tipex on them. I removed it just to see what was under and it said something like "For sale in Thailand only!". So PSP games are far from the first gaming thingie thats illegal to export.
I dont mean to be rude here, but please check into the case and not just jump on the "i hate Sony" wagon. I've seen so much "MS sux, Linux ownz!!!1" stuff in the past year and im gettin
really tired of it. I hope i wont see the same with Sony.
PS: I know many will think "OMG Sony fanboy 2 o' clock!" now, but im not a fanboy. I'm just trying to think what the most reasonable reason can be. Sony still makes about the same amount of money even if they sell a PSP in Japan or in Europe/USA so i cant see why they would do something like this on a own initiative since its all about money and laws. Both MS, Nintendo and Sony have all done some crazy stuff and some really sux, but i dont go around hating them. Also for the record, eventho i never bought anything from L-S i still think it boring that its gone.
