This is nothing but a step in the wrong direction for gaming.  Lik-Sang was smooth and offered good customer support for every country they served.......unlike ANY of their competitors.  Good luck finding import items in the future.

The sad thing is I really think Lik-Sang could have won in court had they been able to pay for lawyer fees.  Oh well.  That's what happens when you're the little guy.

God I hope Sony crashes and burns with the PS3.  They had to cut there price in half in Japan cause the sales projections were HORRIBLE.  Plus with the rumor that it is going to be delayed by a few more weeks, they are digging themselves a hole.  Would serve them right for being suck pricks to everyone.  They should stick to making TV's Grin

I bet Sony will lose more money on marketing campagins to get this mess cleaned up than it did by the exports from Lik-Sang...talk about a stupid move.  I also bought from Lik-Sang in the past, very satisfied with their service.  I read somewhere that Lik-Sang has already closed down twice in the past due to being sued by Nintendo once and by another company, and each time the site resurfaced one-two weeks later.  I don't know if that is true, but if it is, then maybe Lik-Sang will be back in the near future, who knows.

You hate MS and Nintendo also then, since they also sued L-S. It will also mean: do not buy any MS or Nintendo products.

I wish people could check alittle more around the case instead of just see "Sony + L-S closed = Sony sux!". One reason can be that the importers in <country A> have a contract with Sony saying that they are the only one that are allowed to import PSP stuff into <country A>. Then they see that another company, in this case L-S, that also import (well, export) PSP stuff to <country A>. Then they push Sony because they have a contract with them. What shall Sony do, ignore them? They have no choice but to try to stop the export.

How many of you bought stuff frequently from L-S? Now that L-S is closed, is it impossible for you to get the same stuff elsewhere? Play-Asia is also a very good source. This only affects PSP stuff, not PS2. If you try to order PSP stuff from P-A you will get a message saying that you cant, but with PS2 games it works fine. Im not sure if this is for Europe only or Worldwide. Someone from the US here, try to order a PSP game from P-A. You dont have to confrim the order of course, just try and see if you get any messages.

This is not a turning point in importing games. As mentioned, this only consern PSP stuff and L-S is not the only store that carried import stuff. If you really want a PSP game from Japan there is no problem getting it. Just get a contact/friend in Japan and you're set to go.

If i try to order i.e. a GBA game from Amazon.com i get a message saying i cant. People who have played some old arcade games might remember a line that says something like "For sale in <country> only!". I also bought Rockman X8 for PC from Thailand through Ebay. When i got it i see that the CDs have Tipex on them. I removed it just to see what was under and it said something like "For sale in Thailand only!". So PSP games are far from the first gaming thingie thats illegal to export.

I dont mean to be rude here, but please check into the case and not just jump on the "i hate Sony" wagon. I've seen so much "MS sux, Linux ownz!!!1" stuff in the past year and im gettin really tired of it. I hope i wont see the same with Sony.

PS: I know many will think "OMG Sony fanboy 2 o' clock!" now, but im not a fanboy. I'm just trying to think what the most reasonable reason can be. Sony still makes about the same amount of money even if they sell a PSP in Japan or in Europe/USA so i cant see why they would do something like this on a own initiative since its all about money and laws. Both MS, Nintendo and Sony have all done some crazy stuff and some really sux, but i dont go around hating them. Also for the record, eventho i never bought anything from L-S i still think it boring that its gone.

I hated Sony way before this, have hated them for years now.  This just gives me more reason to hate them.  I think they are the most cocky company and make sub par products for the $$$.  Has Nintendo and MS sued people in the past, sure, but do they make quality products that last, YES.  I know people who have bougtht 6 PS2 cause they had so many games they had no choice but to keep getting new one when the old ones died cause they were pieces of junk.  I think Sony made them like that on purpose just so they could make more $$$ on the back end.  I don't want to support a company that rips off its customers.  When MS had a overheating problem on 360's what did they do, they gave them a new one that worked properly.  Sony knew the PS2 had problems and just keep selling them anyways, dirty if you ask me.  Lik-Sang being gone sucks cause it was a reliable way to get games from other parts of the world for a fair price.  They had the right to do what they did, but I just dislike them as a company in general, not just cause of this.

May i ask what products from Sony you had bad experience with and how you was ripped off by Sony? Its true that some PS2 models have problems, but its not true that they dont care about it. There are new models of PS2 comming frequently so errors etc. are being fixed. I think the newest model is V16 or V17. I have V5 or V6 myself and i never had any problems with it, had it for years now.

Why didnt your friends get a new PS2 on warranty instead of buying 6 systems? Afaik Sony also have a internal warranty or what i shall say that allows you to get a new product if it cant be fixed within 2 weeks. We have a Sony vinyl player from the 70s that still works like a charm. I cant remember that i had any problems with a Sony product.

I have a few bad products from Sony.  I had a DVD/VHS player that costed a ton and died like 2 weeks after the warrenty ran out, they said they couldn't do anything.  I rarely used it also, was nearly brand new.  I had two Sony CD players and they also both died within 2 years of owning them, Sony done nothing.  I had numerous friends who had several problems with PS2's, and all of them were told Sony could nothing for this or that reason.  Disc read errors, or the cache memory being full.  Sony told some of them they would fix there PS2 for 100 bucks plus shipping both ways, but it wasn't guaranteed to work and was non-refundable either way.  When they learned of the PS2's problems, they should have pulled all the defective units and replaced them ALL with better quality ones.  They should have also told people that if they use the DVD player often it will mess up the sytems functionality, which it did, and they never mentioned it.  The only products that Sony makse that are good quality and seem to last are there TV's from my experience.  Have I been unlucky with them, maybe.  But I have heard tons of people who refuse to buy there products anymore cause of problems just like these.  The PS2 that I have works (most of the time) but I got mine pretty late in production, and rarely play it.  Sony does have a repair warrenty, but it has a lot of small rules to protect them.  Most problems were NOT covered by it.  I know a guy who runs a local game store he said since all the of the last gen consoles were released they saw about 10 Gamecubes that broke, 25 X-box's and 100's if not 1000's of PS2.  Maybe Sony rushed the PS2, or just used low quality products, but if the other 2 big game console companies don't have all the problems with there products tearing up, neither should Sony.  I think they done it on purpose to get more money, they could have solved this problem and recalled all there systems and replaced all of them that could have had problems.  Money is more important that customer satisfaction and quality, just not a good corporate culture IMO.  They only way I will ever buy Sony again it to make money.  I plan to buy a PS3, then sale it on ebay the same night I buy it and make double or maybe even triple my money.  I don't even want to open it and try it, just simply don't care.  I really do hope that Sony cuts there own throat with the PS3 and it fails.  They already dropped the price of it in Japan cause people there freaked out about the 600 price tag.

Damn, man, you had the worse luck hehe Sad I can understand that you dont like Sony then if you only had bad experience with it.

It seems that warranty works different in USA than here. Here you have 2 year warranty on stuff like this so if it breaks you get a new one (some rules apply, like if the iPod battery stops to work after 1 year u dont get a new, but if the iPod stops working for different reasons you get a new) and you can demand to get a rental item while your item is for repair. I.e. my mom had some problems with her cellphone (not Sony hehe Tongue Samsung) and while it was for repair she got a rental phone.

There is also something here that you can get a new thing after 5 years. Dunno quite how to explain it, but like i had a DVD player i hardly used. After ~3 years it basicly stopped working. I then got a brand new DVD player eventho the warranty was over.

I dont have any statistics on how many PS2, Xbox or GC that have faults, but i know that PS2 have sold 4-5 times more thatn Xbox and GC so its no suprise that theres more errors. More consoles = bigger chance for more errors on the consoles. It might be that they produced some batch of consoles fast and that caused some errors, but i can gurantee you that a big company like this wont do it on purpose just to sell more. Its a too big of a gamble to make a few extra bux (probly some millions, but its pocket change in the long run for them).

Its sorta like MS and Windows. They have had alot of errors during the last 10 years, security holes here and there, but they are trying to fix it. I can understand that your avoiding Sony products because of your bad history with them, but it doesnt automaticly means that their new products are as bad as the previous. Like MS is comming out with Vista now. Its much more secure than the previous Windows OSs so they learned from their mistakes, people usualy does it. And as you mention at the end there, Sony have dropped the price on the 20gb PS3 model in Japan to match the 360 price there. They know that if they want to compete they must drop the price. So they do learn from their mistakes (altho the price example isnt a mistake, but i guess u know what i mean Smiley)
