I think about 180 guilder or more even back then for SMB3. Remember driving my parents insane and ask every day for some money to save for the game when it got released in our stores. Roll Eyes

I think the copy of Metroid my parents got me for Christmas was about $70 or $80 Canadian...and Turtles just came out a couple months before I got it, so it was probably around the same.  I was, of course, still very young at that point, and those were the only new games to come into my hands as a kid, what with being poor and all.  A bit of food on the table was more important than anything, although I did get my fair share of toys and such...just not all the cool shit the other kids got.

I pre-ordered Street Fighter II for SNES, and payed $69 +tax.  I don't think I've payed that much for any game (used or new) since, and I've probably bought 1000 games since then!

Holy shit! No way is Metroid worth $70 or $80! What a way to rob someone. LoL

I never bought any of my games. I was too young to have a job to pay for my own. Although, I'm sure most of them cost $50 bucks. Jesus, I can't believe these 8-bit games cost so much. Cheesy

For the NES it was The Rockteer that I got for my birthday. I think it was 60 or 70 Canadian.
But that was outdone during the N64 days when I dropped over 100 on WWF No Mercy.

I paid the same for No Mercy when it came out.  It simply cost alot to produce, that's why the expense...when the system was discontinued, the price dropped.  I knew it wouldn't be worth near what I paid down the road, but I definitely got the play value from it, so I have no regrets.

I remember paying close to $100. Canadian for Super mario 3.  I bought it the first week it came out for sale in the stores, I just had to have it.  About a month later I was shopping at the same store and saw them selling it for almost $40. dollars less than what I payed. I was pissed.  Angry
