Value for Famicombox carts?
27. Nov 2006 at 10:00

Ok, so I know that there weren't a whole lot of games made for the Famicombox (11 according to some site I just checked), but I have no idea as of how many of each cart that was produced so... How rare are they? What would be a reasonable price for just a cart, any cart, for the system? Is there any demand for these carts or are they useless without the system itself?

Edit: Changed to "Famicombox" in the headline as it seems to be the correct spelling

Are you talking about the Famicom Hotel unit? If so, there are more than 11 games for it. The games are rare, only seen the unit for sale 2 times or so. Never seen loose games for sale and yes, they are useless without the system hehe Smiley

Ok. The page I found (http://www.planetnintendo.com/thewarpzone/famicombox.html) claimed that only 11 games were made. Maybe this is old information? Maybe more are known now?
Now that I read through it again, I also see that the author claims that the carts work well on a normal NES.
The reason I ask is of course that someone asked me if I was interested in just a loose cart for the system and I have no idea what a reasonable price would be. $10? $100? $1000? Ok, maybe not $1000, but I'm still clueless...

Ye, thats the hotel unit Smiley Pretty cool thing which i actually own myself hehe. These games are listed in the manual:

- Donkey Kong
- Donkey Kong Jr.
- Mario Bros
- Super Mario Bros
- Mahjong
- Othello
- Baseball
- Tennis
- Golf
- Devil World
- Ice Climber
- Wrecking Crew
- Hogan's Alley
- Duck Hunt
- Wild Gunman

The site you linked to also lists F1 Race, Ghosts N' Goblins, Pro Wrestling and Adventure Island. It also lists Go and Shogi or is this the full title of the Mahjong game "Go, Shogi, Mahjong" ? Anyway, thats almost 20 games Smiley

I have no idea what the value for a loose cart is, but i would guess you can get atleast $50.

EDIT: I read this on the page:

Quote:
These games will run on a normal Nintendo unit, however, the normal Nintendo games will not run on the Famicom Box.

To be honest i never tried one of the games on a normal unit, but i was under the impresson that it wouldnt work. I could be wrong tho. I also wonder why the pics on the site shows normal games in the unit hehe.

Ok. Thanks for your help. I agree that the whole system is really cool, but it seems as a loose cart in itself isn't that sought after. The seller says he paid about $100 for the cart and I'm not sure I'm willing to pay that much for it. Maybe if I had the unit and was missing that cart, but not now that it would be just another odd (and possibly useless) cart to add to the collection...

There are several games for the Famicombox unit.  Here is the list of the ones that I have verified:
1943
Adventure Island
Baseball
Bomberman
Commando
Devil World
Donkey Kong
Donkey Kong Jr.
Duck Hunt
Excitebike
F1-Race
Fighting Golf
Ghosts 'N Goblins
Golf
Gradius
Hogan's Alley
Ice Climber
Ice Hockey
Knight Rider
M.C. Kids
Mahjong
Mario Bros.
Mega Man
Mike Tyson's Punchout
Ninja Gaiden
Pro Wrestling
Punchout!
Reversi
Rygar
Super Chinese 2
Super Mario Bros
Tennis
Twin Bee
Volleyball
Wild Gunman
World Cup Soccer
Wrecking Crew

I think the value of the loose carts would be about 35-60 bucks depending on what the seller thinks they are worth.  You can play the games on a regular NES, but you can't play regular NES games on a Famicombox unit.  If you don't plan to buy the auction your speaking of Marcus, would you please PM it to me?

It's not an auction, it's a collector in Sweden that posted some stuff he wanted to sell on a swedish forum. Here's the cart: http://upload4.postimage.org/1757730/photo_hosting.html
You can get his e-mail if you want NGD. He has collected for a long time and has no problem selling internationally.
