TV sugestions for playing NES
26. Dec 2006 at 00:49

Right now i curently have a 19" that i play my NES on.   Im looking to upgrade to something in the 30"+ range.  I need help on what kind of TV will give the best colors, best  clarity,  and whatever else that might be important in picking a new TV for my NES.   Thanks, Andy

I know with one of the high tech TVs you can't use the Zapper gun.  I think its a plasma screen TV but I'm not sure.  My only suggestion is to make sure you get a TV that is compatible with the Zapper gun.

I didn't know that the zapper gun didn't work for some televisions. I guess that explains why 2 of my zapper guns mysteriously stopped working when I pulled them out and tried to play Chiller. If I were to get a tv simply to play the NES on I wouldn't go to high tech. HDTV and all the other high tech stuff won't really help out to much for the nes. I would just get a basic tv that was around the 25-30 in range.

My TV is retro; just like my NES. Grin It's perfectly flat on top & has no AV hookups.  I couldn't get rid of it even if I wanted too. Tongue It was made around 1990. It's older than my little brother. Shocked

The zapper will have problems with LCD, plasma, & projection screens.

I would say that's the way to go, brother!  Wink

I've also heard that the zapper doesn't work on plasmas. HuH, thought maybe it was just a rumor. Those good 'ol days will be missed.. Cry

I have a Philips 55 inch rear projection HDTV and zapper games don't work.  Don't bother me much, I just set up a second NES on another TV when I want to bust out the zapper.

So you need to go into another room when you need to bust a cap in some uglyducklins & some flat spinnin hoodlums?

One thing I wonder, does having a bigger TV help when using the lightgun? I mean, it's not like you can't just go up to the screen & fire point blank at everybody. Tongue

There are worlds out there where the sky is burning, where the sea is asleep and the rivers dream; people made of smoke and cities made of song. Somewhere there's danger, somewhere there's injustice, and somewhere else the tea is getting cold. Come on, Ace, we've got work to do.
