I catch hell all the time about living in the past and people constantly tell me NES sucks etc...
They just don't understand what growing up in the 80's was really like do they? The 80's was the greatest decade ever for Nintendo and video games ever. Period! My most treasured memories in life are of growing up playing my NES. Sure todays consoles are awesome, I even own a PS3, but nothing will ever top what us old-schoolers experienced growing up.

You should be shot for saying that. Why are you a member of this site then and not a Xbox site? I hope you were not serious and just being sarcastic. Lol! Also, I play 60GB PS3 not Xbox 360! Wink

I'm pretty sure the X-Box thing was a joke.
Anyhow, everytime I talk about older games here, I'm greeted with fondness and nostalgia from everyone.  Hell, I even sold a few of my games and extra NES' to people here.  I think people are beginning to see that the newer games just aren't as fun as the older ones are.

I agree,

I don't like playing a360 game,it's like a interactive movie, and has nothing to do with videogames in mine opion.
AND the GAMEPLAY in nes and snes games is far beter than with a360

I can agree on a few aspects, I too grew up on the NES, when it first came out my mom bought it for my dad for Xmas, but he wasn't into video games, then I got my hands on it and it was all over. NES is still my favorite, but I also like the other systems/games. I love and play all the Final Fantasy games especially VII and X. I love the Metal Gear Solid games, Punisher, Ninja Guiden all playstation titles. BUT look where they all started from, the NES. I love those games but I also love the NES, good memories

Hey all, this is my first post here.

I don't try to understand why people insist 'retro' gamers need to move on - just because they've stopped making games for it doesn't mean a system is dead.  Would you never again read your favorite book because newer printing technology has been produced since then?

It's just that, as a generation we are aging - we were once the kids yearning to take over the world.  Give them all time, and they'll be just as jaded as the rest of the world over "progress."  If the NES never came along, or the generations before it, where would the industry be now?  Forever a sidenote in the history of electronic entertainment?

I suppose one thing rings true of every generation - there will always be people who like worthless crap, new or antiquated.  Whether or not we're those people is up to opinion.

I think its mostly advertising. We are contantly told that new is better , bigger is better. If you dont have this you wont impress your friends or get laid...blah blah...not that an xbox is going to get anyone laid but i think you get my drift. We live in a world full of disposable consumer goods so i imagine that is how most people look at something when a newer version comes out.

Im glad most people want the new stuff and laugh at us that still buy/play older games and systems ....otherwise who knows what prices would be.
