I've been looking for Video Power, Captain N, and Nick Arcade episodes for a while now.  Captain N is about to be released on DVD.  As for the other two shows, they seem almost impossible to find anywhere.

I used to watch Video Power after school. Johnny Arcade was the dude's name that hosted. The first season was like a one-room set and he introed the show, then skateboarded a yo big five feet to get over to his chair and TV and showed off some stuff. As I remember it was mostly Akklaim, LJN and related companies' stuff, never Capcom...never the good stuff Smiley Of course I was like 13 or 14 at the time so it's a little hazy Smiley

Then second season on they had a huge set and played video games like a quiz show and competed for prizes. There was even a lame shopping spree at the end, it's not as cool as it might sound. I think the final episodes they just started to do SNES stuff so that would definitely date it 89-92 or so.

Side note the guy who played the part of Johnny Arcade was Stivi Paskoski. I know because I sent a letter hoping there was some sort of fan club, and if not if I could start one Smiley This was pretty much what mattered to me at the time. On an extreme aside, I was watching old episodes of Law and Order about two months ago and thought the kid hacker in one episode looked crazy familiar, an IMDB told me it was indeed Johnny Arcade, hopelessly typecast as "lamely-cool computer dork..."

Yeah, I remember the show. It rocked!! Watched it everyday after school. I even drew a picture of Mario and sent it into the show, hoping that I might win a brand new NES game. - I'm still not sure if they got it or not  Grin

They should release these episodes on DVD

I was never a big fan of the first season but I watch the second "quiz show" season religiously. The only problem was where I lived they only showed it at 5:30am Mon - Fri.

Actually the Lengend of Zelda episodes are now on DVD:

...

..worth every cent, btw. Much better than the Super Mario Brothers Super Show in my opinion.

It's a good deal, I'll grant you...but I could watch Captain Lou Albano "do the Mario" all day. Again and again. I wonder how much he got paid that day.  Grin

I've got a couple bits of episodes on a VHS at my parents house... I remember watching that show a lot, with the NEO-GEO being the ultimate prize at the end of the maze mall dealy.

The only way you'll ever be able to properly get Video Power episodes on DVD is if the company itself sells them. It's impossible to get them from a third party, since selling episodes of game shows is illegal. That's why we'll never see Starcade and Nick Arcade episodes on DVD either. Sad
