Hi everyone! Figured I'd introduce myself. I'm 28 years old, been around since the Atari 2600 days. As a kid growing up I had 40-50 NES games, eventuallyt raded them in for newer and newer games eventually leaving me with nothing to show for it.  

My wife and I were talking one night about things we regretted and this popped up. My wife told me I should look into getting a NES again with some games. My 3 and 5 year old boys are exactly the age where NES is great for them, so I picked up an action set NIB off eBay (yes, I wanted NIB if possible to avoid yellowing and such. Want my kids to to have it just like it was meant to be). I just started collecting nes in december myself.Im up to like 115 games about now , found about half of them in the wild and got most of the rest from ebay.I bought alot of them as singles and ended up spending more than i wanted too.Lots is probably the way to go.

Welcome! You got a nice start with that lot. Your kids will have a great time playing, assuming they can get mom and dad away from it. Enjoy the site. There are a lot of great people here and everyone is very friendly and most very knowledgable.

Hey, always nice to see somebody new in this hobby.

What are your goals for collecting?  You say you have 2 kids so are you just trying to buy good games so that they appreciate the older titles that you did when you were a kid?  A lot of us here are completionists and try to collect every game but I can't imagine starting a goal like that with 2 kids and a wife.

You can save yourself some big bucks if you avoid Stadium Events...for $800+ you are basically getting World Class Track Meet with a different label.  There's a few others you can avoid (if you get the Tengen version of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, it's identical to the licenced Mindscape one, plus the three licenced Tengen games came in unlicenced black carts as well).  There's probably a few others, but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

There's one thing I've found with the NES as well...no game is really that bad if you give it a chance.  I've had more fun playing "bad" games in recent months than I've had playing the so-called "classics."  Don't let someone's bad review deter you from playing a potential gem

Awesome, thanks for the heads up. I woend both those as a child and when yous aid Chip & Dale, I remembered exactly the game you were mentioning. That's what i find most exciting about starting a NES collection -- its not just about collecting carts, but memories.

PS: If anyone has doubles/commons/etc in lots and wants to sell, let me know (preferably via PayPal). I keep my eyes peeled all the time now, but if anyone has a bunch of commons they would rather sell to someone, let me know. Trust me, I'd rather buy from collectors then non-collectors.
